Okay, you two, take your argument to Armageddon.  Do not bash each other or call names in the threads!
" Closure? Closure is a misused word in the English language.  There is no such thing as closure for the family of a murder victim.  There will never be any closure for the death of our loved ones until we are dead ourselves.  The families have a lifetime sentence of anguish and sadness."

"Boring................considering the correct translation is thou shall not murder."

Gregg....that sure looks like kill to me on #5 but then again that's the Catholic Version

The Ten Commandments were given to the Israelites and Moses in Hebrew - not Latin.  You don't get to make up your own version based on a faulty translation/interpretation of Hebrew.

Gregg, you're exactly right. It's well documented that the Catholic Church has altered elements of the original scriptures throughout their existence. Oftentimes the mistranslated works are even used to justify the church's position on various issues such as capital punishment, contraceptives, etc.

In most predominantly Catholic countries, the church usually has more power and influence than the governments themselves. So why do they oppose executions?Well in my opinion it's because they (executions) empower the people and the government. With that sense of empowerment the people tend to feel less like victims, less powerless and less reliant on the church.  I can only assume that is part of the reason why the church takes such a strong stand against capital punishment. In other words, executions are not good for business and make it more difficult to control the masses...  Just my opinion.  :)

Just to be clear, I am not Catholic bashing. While I oppose their stance on capital punishment and I think the whole social justice meme reeks of socialism, I applaud them for Catholic Charities, which is one of the largest charities world wide.  I've also rarely seen the commandment --thou shall not murder-- translated correctly. Though I haven't taken a poll, I doubt many of today's churches translate correctly.

Who cares what the bible says or how you interpret it your only playing with semantics.   This thread is about Mr Keith

Who cares what you think?  Refuting the argument that some one should not be executed b/c of the the commandment thou shall not murder is on topic since Keith is scheduled to be executed in September.  You've made it clear that you are a religious bigot - I am not and I don't want anything I say being mis-interpreted.

yikes, it looks like i am missing out on the "warning party" lol

Personally it does not matter how any commandment is translated, the law in Ohio says this p.o.s. must be executed and so it shall be.

I'm going back to bed now....  so sick...   ya'll play nice   :-*

If there must be trouble, let it be in my day, that my child may have peace. -Thomas Paine

My reason for supporting capital punishment: My cousin 16 yr. old Amanda Greenwell was murdered in March of 2004 at the hands of serial killer Jeremy Bryan Jones.

Even if that were to happen it would not mean he's innocent. A large number of those who have been freed from DR have had their convictions overturned as a result of procedural errors/technicalities. Doesn't mean they're "not guilty."

So when he's executed can we assume you will come back and "apologize?" The mere fact that you feel as if we would owe you something shows youre emotionally involved in the case. Such emotion typically tends to affect one's perception. You believe he's innocent because he says so?  ::)

As stated above procedural error does not equal innocence
