LA. Supremes Uphold Death Sentence for Brandy Holmes
« on: December 02, 2008, 01:43:24 PM »
NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The Louisiana Supreme Court has upheld the death sentence of a woman convicted of killing a retired minister after invading his home in Blanchard for a holdup in 2003.

A Caddo Parish jury convicted Brandy Holmes of first-degree murder of Julian L. Brandon Jr.

The high court upheld that conviction and sentence Tuesday, in a 5-2 ruling.

Chief Justice Pascal Calogero and Justice Bernette Johnson wrote separate dissents focusing on arguments that Holmes was mentally retarded and therefore could not be sentenced to death.

The trial lawyer did not ask jurors for a verdict on retardation or ask the judge to instruct jurors that a finding of retardation would rule out the death penalty.

This witch is not retarded by any means !!!! What she did to this couple is just plain horrible. She was and is a junkie that is it. I remember this case very well, like it  happen yesterday. His wife never recovered from her wounds and finally died from them, so in my opinion she should be charged with 2 counts of murder. Why she has not been is beyond me.Thank you Jeff for posting this, if i had not found this site ( by total accident ) i would not have known this. So again thank you . This really pisses me off.
Justice is not about bringing back the dead. It is not about revenge either. Justice is about enforcing consequences for one's own actions to endorse personal responsibility. We cannot expect anyone to take responsibility for their own actions if these consequences are not enforced in full.

ok, the reason they probably have not charged her with the other murder is because in death penalty cases sometimes they will hold back a second charge in case something goes wrong with the appeals process in the first case. There is no statue of limitations on murder and they wil always have the other murder to charge her with should her death sentence ever get overturned.

Welcome to the site, I hope you make yourself comfortable here and stick around a while.   :-*

He was given the death sentence also. They showed her leaving the court house in Shreveport, all that has happen for her is she has gotten fat which comes from eating 3 squares a day on our dime.

High court won't review death penalty in Louisiana

WASHINGTON -- The Supreme Court has declined a challenge to the way the death penalty is imposed in Louisiana, rejecting an appeal by a woman convicted for her role in a brutal New Year's Day attack on a retired minister.

The justices on Monday passed up an opportunity to examine whether the death sentence in Louisiana is arbitrarily meted out to some defendants, while others in similar circumstances are given life sentences.

The case involves a death sentence given to Brandy Holmes. She and her boyfriend, Robert Coleman, were convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to death for killing 70-year-old retired minister Julian Brandon Jr. on New Year's Day 2003.

I´m not sure if there´s a hell, but I believe in executed murderers.

THis is really good news . Now her claim to fame is her mother drank and stayed drunk will carry her and that is the root of all her problems  and has made her the way she is. OMG OMG that is just plain BS .She is far from being retarted as her last claim, she is just a very evil person and should be right where she is .
