I am glad Richard Cartwright was put to death, he did the crime. I am also sad for his mother, I completely understand her neverending love for her son, I also believe that she truly thinks he was innocent. Once again, a piece of crap murderer has left a trail of victims, including his own mother who loved him unconditionally.

For once I completely agree with Gregg on this.

"Frenchy!   I'm from New York, and I don't like to think of myself as a bleeding heart liberal"....

Pam, my dear, I was referring to a certain NY newcomer here. My post was a bit ambiguous.  If you wish, I shall go out and search for some briars and self flagellate for a while. :-*

“If an offender has committed murder, he must die. In this case, no possible substitute can satisfy justice. For there is no parallel between death and even the most miserable life, so that there is no equality of crime and retribution unless the perpetrator is judicially put to death.” - Immanuel Kant

My reason for supporting capital punishment: My cousin 16 yr. old Amanda Greenwell was murdered in March of 2004 at the hands of serial killer Jeremy Bryan Jones.

honestly, if you want something to cry over, and feel bad for...try thinking (or reading) how the VICTIMS of these murders. they get no appeals. they dont get a shot and go to sleep.
they live / die in fear and pain.

As for Cartwright:
I do feel sorry for his mother and child, however he is the one that caused it so I do not feel an ounce of remorse for him.  And honestly, his child is probably better off without him in her life.
