Woman marries death row prisoner
« on: June 27, 2007, 07:07:23 AM »

A former Nottinghamshire woman has married a death row prisoner at a ceremony in a US jail.

Tracy Cope, 44, married James Lewis Morgan, 52, at Central Prison in Raleigh, North Carolina, last week.

Their four-and-a-half-year relationship began when Ms Cope sent the inmate a love poem through a pen pal programme. She has since moved to North Carolina.

Morgan was convicted of killing Patrina Lynette King, 34, in November 1997 and was sentenced to death.

Prison officials allowed the couple to hold hands, hug and kiss during the wedding ceremony, but visits will now be through a glass partition and will be limited to one-and-a-half hours per week.

Tracy told WRAL TV in North Carolina Morgan's crime was no longer a concern to her once she found out all the details.

She added that she was optimistic they would both be together outside prison walls one day.

"We never give up hope. We say that with God, all things are possible."

The North Carolina Department of Correction said Morgan is one of only two prisoners to get married at Central Prison in the past five years.

Well, the lovely new bride better never refuse to give her "beloved" a blow job. Otherwise, he will hit her over he head with a beer bottle and stab her 48 times with a knife. And she looks more like 64 than 44!

;D ;D ;D Sam. You know here's another example of an over the pond scumpal marrying an inmate. To me, a person must be so hideous that he/she/it whatever has to get on a plane, fly over the pond, and marry one of these dirtbags <this one in my state no less>. For the UK members of the site on here, ain't there any men left for these euro pieces of trailer trash. Enquiring minds wanna know. And oh yeah seeing they had a contact wedding I for sure am calling MY attorney general expressing my humble opinion on why these scumbags  should NOT get any contact at all. She looks like she's ready for social security.

If it weren't for Peter, Karen and Molly K, whom I adore, I too would have a naughty comment to make here.   :o

Mouth zipped. ;D ;D ;D :(  But I can still agree with Sam and Jeff!! And I do too.   ;D ;D ;D
" Closure? Closure is a misused word in the English language.  There is no such thing as closure for the family of a murder victim.  There will never be any closure for the death of our loved ones until we are dead ourselves.  The families have a lifetime sentence of anguish and sadness."

Obviously this woman isn't wrapped to tight. I, as a honorable pro-dp person will withhold comment. just let them get thru the appeals and have the sentence they received carryed out.  End of story.  8)

This is fertile ground for me too.  But Im now in my kinder and gentler mode, so I will let these opportunities pass. Ill limit my remarks to say I DO hope they will be together outside the walls someday, as long as he is in a jar on her mantle, or 6 feet under her back yard. :)

Hmm, sounds like a premise for a Stephen King novel.

Although I believe I understand the psychological mechanisms behind it I still find it difficult to emotionally understand or accept all this women falling in love with murderers.

Take a look at this guy:

He committed one of the most awful and terrible murders in modern swedish criminal history when he back in 1988 killed 3 persons (mother, father and a teenager son) because they discovered him when he tried to steal a bike. This fine fellow has been married 5 times during his time in prison and says he still recieves a couple of letters from women every week. To give you the whole picture, this picture of him back in 1988 maybe explains the romantic feelings a little bit more:

But still... How can you feel any kind of symphaty for a murder of this kind? I may be able to understand a little bit that a tough, masculine bank robber can attract women who dream of this type of men. But a coward who killed 3 unarmed persons, one of them a boy? UNBELIEVABLE

I just don't understand this concept anyway.  Why in the hell would ANYONE want to marry a murderer, then be tied to a person that you can't snuggle, kiss, hold, fight with (lol) etc.

I was lonely in a marriage and he was in the same house.  I can't imagine being lonely in a marriage with a murderer that is never going to get out or ....   I just can't even go on...  there are too many issues to even list!!

I just don't understand!

Looking at their wedding picture....I'd call it a double barf bag moment.
When a murder is committed, a horrible fate
is thrust upon the victim's family.

The surviving family is unwillingly sentenced to a life of hell...chained to the fate of the person who took their loved ones' lives.  We are counting down the days until our sentence is lifted and we are set free.

How very typical of your average scumpal, the crime is dismissed and the victim no longer matters.  >:(
