Run for 3 hours non-stop for eating a candy bar? Jesus... this is just more proof that some people are unspeakably cruel and do not deserve to have children.
When I was about 13, I remember my dad giving me a shovel, a mattock and a wheelbarrow and telling me to go clean a ditch line as punishment for ditching school. At the time it seemed pretty mean, but I also know he had the common sense and wisdom to make sure it was a safe form of physical punishment. I know he had no intention of hurting me, aside from the callouses that were left on my hands. Looking back, I feel better for it as it definitely taught me a lesson. There is a BIG difference between that and what these sadistic old cows did to this little girl. That goes beyond being mean and cruel. It's outright sadistic and nothing short of torture, which I have a feeling they did for their own sick benefit and enjoyment. The story says the child was severely dehydrated. Were they not even giving her water while she was running for hours? Any athlete, competitive runner, health care provider, etc. can tell you how quickly the body loses vital fluids and minerals during physical activity. After 30 mins of working out in the gym or running most adults would even be cramping if it weren't for drinking water or Gatorade. Even more so when it's a child. What they did is unbelievable and I hope they get what they deserve.
