How Muslim immigration has transformed European politics

The mass immigration of Muslims into Western Europe over the last four decades or so was a project of elite mainstream politicians, most of them left-wing, who never consulted the electorate on whether they thought this project was a good idea or not. Motivated by a multicultural sensibility (and, in most cases, an invincible ignorance about Islam), these politicians felt compelled not to try to integrate these newcomers, but encouraged them, rather, to preserve their cultural values, however at odds they might be with Western ideas of freedom and equality. For many years there was little organized public resistance to the increasing Islamization of Europe. But then, around a decade ago, things reached a breaking point.
There were several factors. The enthusiastic response to 9/11 by European Muslims who cheered in the streets that day underscored just how foreign many of these people’s values were, and just how hostile they were to the societies in which they lived. The terrorist attacks in Madrid and London, the Danish cartoon riots, the brutal murder of Islam critic Theo van Gogh in Holland, the riots in French and Belgian cities, all raised red flags. European economies suffered increasingly owing to the burden of Muslim families on the welfare state. The growth to adulthood of a generation of European-born Muslims, who had been expected to be fully assimilated, but who, in an extraordinary number of cases, actually proved to be more alienated from mainstream European society than their immigrant parents, was a wake-up call. So were the rising crime rates by these youths, whose religion taught them that unveiled women were legitimate targets for rape and that it was not only acceptable but virtuous to assault Jews, gays, and infidels generally. Furthermore, Europeans became increasingly aware of appalling practices within European Muslim communities, such as forced marriages, female genital mutilation, and honor killings; aware of the vicious anti-Western preaching of these communities’ imams; and aware that these communities, as they grew, were becoming insular no-go zones governed not by Western law but by Sharia.
Yet while ordinary Europeans — many of whose lives were strongly affected by these developments — became more concerned about them, government leaders (whose own lives were largely insulated from these grim realities) dragged their heels, loath to criticize Islam, to make demands of immigrants, or to admit the failure of the multicultural project. The result was a rise in the popularity of organizations, politicians, and parties (some of them newly minted parties) that dared to question the wisdom of existing immigration and integration policies. Some of these new movements had their roots, at least in part, in traditional European fascism and nativism, and were, to say the least, not entirely positive developments; others stood up to Islamization in the name of secular society and individual liberty. Generally speaking, the consequence was a clear rightward shift in European politics. A dramatic example of the way in which concern about European Islam led to a political upheaval was in Denmark, where a sensational 2001 report predicting catastrophic long-term effects of Muslim immigration in that country led voters to replace the socialists who had dominated Danish politics for decades with a conservative coalition led by Anders Fogh Rasmussen, who proceeded (as promised) to institute the most revolutionary immigration and integration reforms in Western Europe. (Alas, in the recent Danish election the socialists were returned to power; they plan to water down Fogh’s reforms.)
Concerns about European Islam played at least some role in the installation of conservative governments in Britain, France, and Germany, where over the last couple of years the heads of government, David Cameron, Nicolas Sarkozy, and Angela Merkel respectively, have pronounced multiculturalism a failure — something one could not have imagined happening just a few years ago. In Norway, concern about Islam was a key factor in the rise of the Progress Party, which at its peak a couple of years ago rivaled the long-dominant Labor Party as the largest of the country’s seven or eight major parties (though in the wake of the July 22 murder spree by an anti-immigrant lunatic its clout has slipped significantly). Concern about Islam has fueled the rise of the far-right, anti-immigrant Vlaams Bloc, now Vlaams Belang, in Belgium and the Sweden Democrats in Sweden, and has helped keep Silvio Berlusconi’s Forza Italia in power. Perhaps most spectacularly, it has also fed the immense popularity of the valiant Dutch politician Geert Wilders, who has placed the curbing of his country’s Islamization at the center of his political platform and whose very considerable influence extends far beyond his tiny country.
A major outlier in all this is Spain, where the 2004 Madrid bombings, supposedly motivated by the presence of Spanish troops in Iraq, actually tipped the elections a couple of days later toward the Socialists, who promised to withdraw those troops (and did). But that exception aside, the development across Europe has been striking. A decade ago, America had a conservative president and Western Europe was governed mostly by left-wing parties; today the opposite is the case. Less striking, alas, have been the policy repercussions of this political sea change. While there have been positive reforms in immigration and integration policies in Denmark and the Netherlands, and scattered policy changes elsewhere (the burqa ban in France, the minaret ban in Switzerland), these new governments have fallen short of taking the kind of action that is necessary to ensure the survival of European freedom and equality in the face of an Islamization that is still proceeding apace. The recent news that there are hundreds of would-be terrorists in the U.K. waiting in line to wreak havoc at the forthcoming London Olympics only underscored just how far Europe has to go to protect itself from homegrown jihad — whether of the violent or of the stealth variety.

Man, it’s tough being a Muslim. Everyday I have to carry around an AK47. Do you have any idea how heavy it gets, not to mention all that extra ammo weight really hurts my back. Then I have to make IED’s and handle all those dangerous explosives. You have no idea how dangerous that is to me. Why, I could get hurt. Being devout, I have to pray five times a day and I have arthritis in both knees and one elbow caused by shrapnel from my botched suicide mission. The knee bending causes me so much pain that I have become addicted to pain killers and I may have to enter rehab. Then there are so many honor killings to take care of. I had to off my sister for talking to a boy and my auntie for leaving the house without me or one of my three male cousin’s muhammad, muhammad or muhammad . All our street riots to protest the people who are against our jihad operations are so very tiresome and they seem to go on forever. I just stay wore to a frazzle because it never ends! You infidels are so lucky because,it’s tough being a Muslim.

Who may we blame for this overwhelming immi-grant takeover? With Sharia Law they can do anything they desire to westerners and justify their acts. We got judges who think Sharia Law and foreign judges can do no wrong. We got a Supreme Court one judge from Sharia Law and nobody seems able or willing to do anything about the coming problems.

Our system of government is a kind and forgiving system. And the muslims are using it against us look at Egypt now compared to a year ago. It has a very strict government control system that they do not want to get rid of but use. In Germany when they were guest workers the rioted against the Greeks the other guest workers there. Any one who served in Germany knows this to be true. Now finally they are being forced to leave because Germany realizes that the “multi-cultrual” experiment is a failure this has been stated by Merkel. The muslims there are the same as the ones here. Their agenda is of a total take over and elimination of our system of government and forced conversion of us to muslims or to kill us. This is not fantasy this is history hopfully we will not wake up to late and have a truly hard time getting rid of them. We will win in the end run however the more we wait the higher the cost.

I'm trying to come back to the site on a regular basis. However, you might notice a difference in my postings, no worries, my stand is still SOLID on the Pro side!
I slipped away from here for the months preceding the Stroman execution, not because I disagreed with it, I supported his punishment completely, however for those who don't know me, I once knew him and even though I support the punishment he received it was a hard reality to know he was really going to die. It's hard for me to explain (I cant even explain it to myself), especially since I had not exchanged communication with him since 2006 my feelings were confusing to me. So I removed myself from the site until it was over.
I've decided that when I am back on here on a regular basis I will not celebrate the death of any one, not even the most vile of criminals. Sometimes our words here do appear as we are celebrating and honestly I don't want any part of that, I would just like to exchange news, opinions and ideas in a respectful manner. I have to remind myself that some of these criminals do have family members and young children or grandchildren and I don't want to lower myself to post things like "rot in hell" and the like for them to possibly see, it is in bad taste and just wrong in my opinion. I slipped away from here for the months preceding the Stroman execution, not because I disagreed with it, I supported his punishment completely, however for those who don't know me, I once knew him and even though I support the punishment he received it was a hard reality to know he was really going to die. It's hard for me to explain (I cant even explain it to myself), especially since I had not exchanged communication with him since 2006 my feelings were confusing to me. So I removed myself from the site until it was over.
I've decided that when I am back on here on a regular basis I will not celebrate the death of any one, not even the most vile of criminals. Sometimes our words here do appear as we are celebrating and honestly I don't want any part of that, I would just like to exchange news, opinions and ideas in a respectful manner. I have to remind myself that some of these criminals do have family members and young children or grandchildren and I don't want to lower myself to post things like "rot in hell" and the like for them to possibly see, it is in bad taste and just wrong in my opinion. Shariah a Danger to US, Security Pros Say

A panel of national security experts who worked under Republican and Democratic presidents is urging the Obama administration to abandon its stance that Islam is not linked to terrorism, arguing that radical Muslims are using Islamic law to subvert the United States.
In a report set for release today, the panel states that "it is vital to the national security of the United States, and to Western civilization at large, that we do what we can to empower Islam's authentic moderates and reformers."
The study group, sponsored by the conservative-oriented Center for Security Policy, says in its report that proponents of advancing Islamic law mark the "crucial fault line" in Islam's internal divisions separating truly moderate Muslims, like the late Indonesian President Abdurrahman Wahid, from the large portion of the world's 1 billion Muslims who advocate imposing what they call Shariah law throughout the world.
Mr. Wahid, who died in December, is a widely respected Muslim visionary who promoted pluralism in Indonesia, which has the world's largest population of Muslims.
According to the report, proponents of Shariah are "Muslim supremacists" waging "civilization jihad" along with the Islamist terrorists engaged in violent jihad, like al-Qaida.
The 19-member study group was led by retired Army Lt. Gen. William G. Boykin, deputy undersecretary of defense for intelligence in the George W. Bush administration, and retired Army Lt. Gen. Harry E. Soyster, Defense Intelligence Agency director from 1988 to 1991.
Included in the team of former defense, law enforcement and intelligence officials were Clinton administration CIA Director R. James Woolsey and Andrew C. McCarthy, former assistant U.S. attorney in New York, a career counterterrorism prosecutor during the Clinton administration.
Frank Gaffney, director of the Center for Security Policy, said the Obama administration's policy is based on an incorrect assumption. The Team B report seeks to expose flaws in anti-terror programs, including the policy of not referring to al-Qaida and similar groups as "Islamist" to avoid offending Muslims, he said.
"What if it turns out that some of the people the Obama administration has been embracing are actually promoting the same totalitarian ideology and seditious agenda as al-Qaida, only they're doing it from White House Iftar dinners?" said Mr. Gaffney, referring to the daily meal eaten by Muslims to break their fast during Ramadan.
The group of experts was modeled after the official CIA Team B, whose 1976 contrary analysis said U.S. intelligence assessments had underestimated Soviet nuclear forces. That Team B report led to the military buildup under the Reagan administration.
John Brennan, deputy White House national security adviser for counterterrorism, told The Washington Times in June that he disagrees that "there is an Islamic dimension to terrorism."
The administration's policy of not using the word Islam and its derivatives to describe today's fundamentalist terrorists is aimed at "not according these individuals any religious legitimacy," he said.
A White House spokesman could not be reached for comment on the report or the administration's policy on political Islam.
Mr. Gaffney said the report concludes that U.S. government programs aimed at reaching out to Muslim groups that promote Shariah law "is not political correctness, it's submission."
The administration's failure to understand the Islamist nature of the terrorist threat is "inviting more violent jihad against this country," Mr. Gaffney said.
The report calls for a campaign against radical Islamists following the model used against communist ideology and activities during the Cold War, including infiltrating foreign-supported jihad groups by the FBI and other aggressive security measures.
"Today, the United States faces what is, if anything, an even more insidious ideological threat: the totalitarian socio-political doctrine that Islam calls Shariah," the report says.
"Though it certainly has spiritual elements, it would be a mistake to think of Shariah as a 'religious' code in the Western sense because it seeks to regulate all manner of behavior in the secular sphere — economic, social, military, legal, and political."
The Team B report calls for developing a counterstrategy to Islamist ideology, but notes that understanding the nature of the enemy is a critical first step.
"That cannot be done by following the failed strategy of fictionalizing the state of Islam in the vain hope that reality will, at some point, catch up to the benign fable," the report says. "Empowering the condign elements of Islam requires a candid assessment, which acknowledges the strength of Shariah — just as defeat of 20th century totalitarian ideologies required an acknowledgment of, and respect for, their malevolent capabilities."
The Shariah system is "totalitarian" and incompatible with the U.S. Constitution's guarantees of democratic lawmaking, freedom of conscience, individual liberty and freedom of expression, including the right to analyze and criticize Shariah law, the report states.
The report cites the 1991 document from the Muslim Brotherhood in North America describing a covert process of Islamic "settlement" in the United States. The plan is to carry out a "grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and 'sabotaging' its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated," the document stated.
The Egyptian-origin Muslim Brotherhood is the most important entity promoting Islamic supremacism, the report says.
Republican and Democratic administrations failed to understand the ideological nature of the terrorist enemy, the report says, including its ultimate goal of reinstating a totalitarian Islamic caliphate with Shariah imposed globally.

On The Scale Of Evil, Where Do Murderers Rate?
Columbia University professor Michael Stone knows evil. He's a forensic psychologist — the type of expert that provides testimony on the mental state of accused murderers when a declaration of insanity can mean the difference between life and death row.
Inspired by the structure of Dante's circles of hell, Stone has created his own 22-point "Gradations of Evil" scale, made up of murderers in the 20th century. "I thought it would be an interesting thing to do," he says.
His scale is loosely divided into three tiers. First are impulsive evil-doers: driven to a single act of murder in a moment of rage or jealousy. Next are people who lack extreme psychopathic features, but may be psychotic — that is, clinically delusional or out of touch with reality. Last are the profoundly psychopathic, or "those who possess superficial charm, glib speech, grandiosity, but most importantly cunning and manipulativeness," Stone says. "They have no remorse for what they've done to other people."
Stone hopes the scale could someday be used in prosecutions. "The people at the very end of the scale have certain things about their childhood backgrounds that are different," he says, from those who appear earlier in the scale. And because the scale follows a continuum of likelihood a killer will kill again, courts may be able to better categorize the risks posed by releasing a psychopath.
Conspicuously absent from Stone's scale are wartime evil-doers. "My scale is a scale for evil in peacetime," he says. That's because assessing wartime evil from a criminal-psychological standpoint is more complicated because of factors like culture, history and religion."
And in war, there are often two sides. Take Hitler, Stone says. "He thought we were evil, we thought he was evil." But, he adds, "in that particular case, we were right."

1. Justified Homicide
The least malevolent: Those who have killed in self-defense and do not show psychopathic features.
Cheryl Pierson
Long Island native Cheryl Pierson had been repeatedly molested by her father after her mother died. He was a domineering man with rigid and bizarre rules — for example, he insisted she eat three items on her dinner plate incrementally in a clockwise rotation; if she didn't he would become violent. In desperation at age 17, she paid a classmate $400 to kill her father. She was sentenced to six months in jail for what was, in Stone's words, "in effect a self-defense killing."
IMPULSIVE MURDERERS
People who are not really psychopaths, not subject to routine unspeakable acts without remorse. "Ordinary people that get caught in some terrible situation," Stone says
2. Jealous Lovers, Non-Psychopathic
Though egocentric or immature, evildoers in this category committed their crimes in the heat of passion.
Jean Harris
School director Jean Harris led an exemplary life before she became romantically involved with "Scarsdale Diet" doctor Herman Tarnower. But when she found another woman's panties in his dresser, she snapped. Harris shot her lover to death in a crime of passion — and was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
3. Willing Companions Of Killers
Still far from psychopathic, some have antisocial traits and an aberrant personality. They're often driven by impulse.
Cindy Campbell
Jack Olsen's 1987 book Cold Kill describes Cindy Campbell as a manipulative, chaotic woman. She claimed she was the victim of incest and was accused of enlisting her lover, David West, to kill her parents in their sleep. Both she and West were convicted of murder.
4. Provocative "Self-Defense"
These people kill in self-defense, but they aren't entirely innocent themselves; they may have been "extremely provocative" toward their victim.
Susan Cummings
A shy, tomboyish daughter of a billionaire arms trader, Susan Cummings fell in love with an Argentine polo player, Roberto Villegas. But after two years together, they fought: She was stingy and began to refuse sex; he would get angry and verbally abusive. Finally she shot him to death in her kitchen in 1997. Originally charged with first-degree murder, she was ultimately convicted of voluntary manslaughter and sentenced to 60 days in jail.
5. Desperate Measures
These are traumatized, desperate killers of abusive relatives or others — but they lack “significant psychopathic traits” and are genuinely remorseful.
Susan Wyche
Susan Wyche was a topless dancer who married and had a child with Jeff Wright, a successful carpet salesman from Houston. He used cocaine, had affairs, gave Susan herpes and was physically abusive. In 2003, she reached a breaking point, and in a fit of rage stabbed him 193 times. Portrayed as a battered wife by the defense and a vicious seductress by the prosecution, she was given a relatively light sentence: 25 years. A new punishment hearing is set for October.
6. Hot Heads
Killers who act in an impetuous moment, yet without marked psychopathic features
Issei Sagawa
Born in Japan, Issei Sagawa was pampered by his mother, but became highly irritable and prone to tantrums. In high school, he developed cannibalistic fantasies, and in 1981 he was accused of carrying one out in Paris. His victim: a Dutch student named Renee Hartevelt. He lured her to his apartment, shot her to death, sexually assaulted the body and then began eating her muscle tissue. He was declared legally insane in France and sent back to Japan, where he was released from a mental institution in 1986. He's now a minor celebrity and has written books and magazine articles about his experience.
7. Narcissists
Highly narcissistic killers who are often possessive, not distinctly psychopathic, but "with a psychopathic core." They typically kill loved ones or family members out of jealousy.
Prosenjit Poddar
In 1968, college student Prosenjit Poddar met Tatiana Tarasoff at a dance class in California. They dated briefly but she rejected him. Poddar then told his therapist about wanting to kill her. His therapist wanted to commit him to hospital, but Poddar convinced campus police he was not dangerous. In the summer of 1969, after she returned from a vacation, Poddar stabbed Tarasoff to death with a kitchen knife. Poddar was convicted and deported back to India after his conviction was overturned. Her parents sued the campus police for failing to warn that their daughter was in danger. This led to the famous Tarasoff decision, which ruled physicians now must warn potential victims of a psychiatric patient.
8. Fit of Rage
Non-psychopathic people, who live with an underlying, smoldering rage, then kill when that rage is ignited.
Charles Whitman
n 1966, ex-Marine Charles Whitman gunned down his wife and his mother, then ascended a tower at the University of Texas and began shooting people with a rifle. He killed 14 people and wounded 32, before being shot and killed by police. His early life was plagued by physical abuse by his father. A UT psychologist who met with Whitman before the murders described him as "oozing with hostility." An autopsy revealed that he had a brain tumor, which may have contributed to his rage.
SEMI-PSYCHOPATHS
Those who show a "fair number" of psychopathic traits — grandiosity, superficial charm, or general lack of remorse.
9. Jealous Lovers, Psychopathic
The scale's first foray into psychopathic territory, these killers are jealous lovers but with marked psychopathic features.
Paul Snider
Paul Snider "discovered" Dorothy Stratten when she was working at a Dairy Queen at age 17. He became her manager and steered her to Playboy magazine, where she became Playmate of the Year in 1980. They married, but their relationship soon deteriorated, and she became involved with film director Peter Bogdanovich. In a jealous rage, Snider lured her to his apartment and shot her to death with a rifle before killing himself. Bob Fosse made a film about her tragic life, Star 80.
10. "In The Way" Killers, Not Fully Psychopathic
Killers of witnesses or people who are simply "in the way." These evildoers are egocentric, but not totally psychopathic.
John List
Born in 1925, John List was described as rigid, joyless, angry and a neighborhood crank. A failed accountant with poor executive ability, he kept losing jobs, yet bought a big house for his wife and three children — which he couldn't afford. Caught between his indebtedness and his monstrous pride, he decided to kill his family. In 1971, he shot and killed his mother, wife and children, and fled to Colorado under an assumed name. He was at large for 18 years, until an image constructed by a forensic anthropologist was broadcast on America's Most Wanted. He died in prison in 2008 at age 82.
11. "In The Way" Psychopaths
Psychopathic killers of people "in the way." Premeditation is not usually a major factor in their killings.
Jeffrey MacDonald
An Army Green Beret doctor named Jeffrey MacDonald began showing signs of violence and hatred of women in his adolescence. In 1970, was accused of killing his wife and daughters, and then staging the scene to look like a cult slaying in the mold of Charles Manson. MacDonald was convicted of murder, but his case — the subject of the book Fatal Vision — has dragged on for four decades. In August 2010, his lawyers filed a brief in federal court asking for a new trial and claiming that DNA evidence could prove MacDonald's innocence.
12. Power-Hungry And Cornered
Power-hungry psychopaths who kill when "cornered," or placed in a situation they wouldn't be able to escape with their power intact.
Jim Jones
Born in 1931, Jim Jones was attracted early on to a Pentecostal religious group that practiced "speaking in tongues." He later became a charismatic leader of the Peoples Temple. Grandiose and fanatic, as well as psychopathic and paranoid, he gathered a large group of followers and moved with them to Guyana. In 1978, U.S. Rep. Leo Ryan and his entourage went to Guyana to investigate; he and four others were shot and killed. Cornered, Jones told his followers to commit group suicide. In all, 914 people died, 276 of them children. He also took his own life.
13. Inadequate And Rageful
Murderers with shortcomings that follow them throughout life, who also express psychopathic impulses and are prone to rage
Karla Faye Tucker
Karla Faye Tucker was born the illegitimate daughter of prostitute and abused drugs since she was 9. She married at 16 — by which time she had already had a hysterectomy for pelvic inflammatory disease. She divorced at 20. In 1983, she and boyfriend Daniel Garrett invaded the apartment of Jerry Lynn Dean while the two were high on methadone, valium, heroin and alcohol. Tucker and Garrett killed Dean and the woman he was with, using a hammer and pickaxe. After 14 years on death row, she was executed in 1998. She was the first woman executed in Texas since the Civil War.
14. Schemers
Ruthlessly self-centered and psychopathic, schemers stop at nothing to deceive, con and steal.
Sante Kimes
Sante Kimes was born in 1934 and soon became a self-trained con artist. Briefly married to Lee Powers, she had a son, Kenny. Many more thefts followed, along with use of numerous aliases. She made her son into a kind of slave; the two became "grifters" — accomplished at stealing. In 1998 she and her son conned their way into the good graces of Irene Silverman, a wealthy Fifth Avenue widow in New York City. They got her to sign over her property and then killed her, disposing of her body. Kimes is a classic psychopath, and is considered responsible for other murders besides that of Silverman. She and her son are serving life sentences.
15. Cold-Blooded Spree
Murderers who kill multiple people calmly and with a psychopathic motive. Often pathological in their denial of guilt or inability to confront reality.
Charles Manson
Charles Manson was born in 1934 to a troubled family. At a young age, he began stealing, ending up in reformatories then jail and prisons. In his 30s he began to attract a following of waif-like women who were in his thrall. Then in 1969 he had his group invade the home of pregnant actress Sharon Tate, killing her, her unborn baby and four friends. Later they killed Rosemary LaBianca, scrawling "Death to Pigs" in her blood around the house. He received the death penalty, later commuted to a life term in Corcoran Prison in California.
PSYCHOPATHS
Fully psychopathic by every modern definition.
16. Vicious Psychopaths
Those who commit multiple vicious acts that may also include murder, rape or mutilation.
Miyazaki Tsutomu
Born in 1962 into a wealthy Japanese family, Miyazaki Tsutomu had a congenital hand defect, such that he was unable to hold his hands palm-up. He was ostracized as a child and began to lurk around young girls, stalking them. In 1989, he kidnapped and murdered four young girls, mutilated their bodies and drank the blood of one victim. When his crimes were discovered, his father committed suicide out of shame. Miyazaki coldly regarded that as "just punishment" for not raising him correctly. He was executed in Tokyo in 2008.
17. The Sexually Perverse
Serial killers with some element of sexual perversion in their crimes. In males, rape is usually the primary motive and killing follows to hide the evidence. Torture is not a primary motive.
Ted Bundy
Ted Bundy was born in 1946, performed well in school and was acutely shy. His sexual homicides began in earnest in 1974, near his alma mater, the University of Washington. He worked his way down to Florida, luring, raping and killing at least 28 girls en route. He escaped from a Colorado prison in 1977, and continued killing until identified and apprehended (thanks to bite marks that matched his teeth) in 1978. He was executed in Florida in 1989.
18. Torturing Murderers
Though psychotic, they do not typically prolong their torture. Murder, not torture, is their primary motivation.
Gary Ridgeway
Gary Ridgeway, a.k.a the "Green River Killer," grew up in Washington state. He was troubled by his sexual attraction to his mother and of his feelings of lust and humiliation. He's one of the serial killers showing the famous childhood "triad" of bed-wetting, fire-setting, and animal torture. He began serial killing of prostitutes in earnest after a third divorce in 1982. Some investigators believe he may have killed as many as 90 women, subjecting some to bondage or necrophilia. He's now serving 48 life sentences plus 480 years.
19. Non-Homicidal Psychopaths
Psychopaths who fall short of murder, yet engage in terrorism, subjugation, intimidation or rape.
Gary Steven Krist
Gary Steven Krist had served prison time for robbery and fraud in three different states before he was 18. Out of prison in 1968 at age 23, he planned a ransom kidnapping. His victim was Barbara Mackle. Krist buried her underground, allowing her to breathe using a tube, while he awaited a $500,000 ransom from her father. She was rescued after 83 hours buried alive. He was sentenced to life in prison, but was paroled and later convicted of importing cocaine into the United States. He's in a federal prison in Florida, with a planned release in November 2010.
20. Murdering Torturers
Psychotic (legally insane) and primarily motivated by their desire to torture.
Joseph Kallinger
From a young age, Joseph Kallinger's foster family abused him so severely that at age 6 he suffered a hernia inflicted by his foster father. He was psychotic and schizophrenic, and when he married and had children, he was equally brutal. In 1972 he was held on charges of child abuse but was later released. In 1974, he and his 13-year-old son Michael began to break into houses in Philadelphia, Baltimore and New Jersey, where they terrorized and tortured four families, and then sexually assaulted and killed a 21-year-old nurse. Finally arrested, he was sentenced to life, and then sent to a mental hospital where he died in 1996 at age 59.
21. Pure Torturers
Not all torturers murder. These psychopaths (evaluated to be in touch with reality) are preoccupied with torture "in the extreme," but never convicted of murder.
Cameron Hooker
Cameron Hooker was born in 1953. As he grew older he read pornography, particularly that which portrayed women being tortured. He married his wife, Janice, in 1975. He fantasized about having his own sex slave and allegedly reached an agreement with his wife that she could have a baby if he could have a sex slave. After the birth of their child, Hooker kidnapped 20-year-old Colleen Stan in 1977 and kept her captive for seven years. She was whipped, strangled, burned, electrically shocked and raped. For much of that time, she was locked inside a box for 23 hours a day. She and Hooker's wife fled together in 1984. He was convicted and sentenced to 104 years in prison.
22. Psychopathic Torture-Murderers
Defined by a primary motivation to inflict prolonged, diabolical torture. Most in this category are male serial killers.
Jeffrey Dahmer
Born in 1960 in Milwaukee, Jeffrey Dahmer was sexually molested by a neighbor when he was 8. At 10, he was decapitating animals and mounting their heads on stakes in the backyard. At 17 he committed his first murder, a male hitchhiker whom he bludgeoned, strangled, dismembered and buried. After a failed stint in the Army, his serial killing began in earnest in the late 80s, ending up with at least 17 victims — all males, some homosexual, like Dahmer. Finally arrested in 1991, he was convicted the next year of 15 murders and sentenced to 936 years in prison. In 1994, another inmate at the Columbia Correctional Institution in Wisconsin bludgeoned Dahmer to death with a bar from a weight machine.

His scale is loosely divided into three tiers. First are impulsive evil-doers: driven to a single act of murder in a moment of rage or jealousy. Next are people who lack extreme psychopathic features, but may be psychotic — that is, clinically delusional or out of touch with reality. Last are the profoundly psychopathic, or "those who possess superficial charm, glib speech, grandiosity, but most importantly cunning and manipulativeness," Stone says. "They have no remorse for what they've done to other people."
Stone hopes the scale could someday be used in prosecutions. "The people at the very end of the scale have certain things about their childhood backgrounds that are different," he says, from those who appear earlier in the scale. And because the scale follows a continuum of likelihood a killer will kill again, courts may be able to better categorize the risks posed by releasing a psychopath.
Conspicuously absent from Stone's scale are wartime evil-doers. "My scale is a scale for evil in peacetime," he says. That's because assessing wartime evil from a criminal-psychological standpoint is more complicated because of factors like culture, history and religion."
And in war, there are often two sides. Take Hitler, Stone says. "He thought we were evil, we thought he was evil." But, he adds, "in that particular case, we were right."

The least malevolent: Those who have killed in self-defense and do not show psychopathic features.
Cheryl Pierson
Long Island native Cheryl Pierson had been repeatedly molested by her father after her mother died. He was a domineering man with rigid and bizarre rules — for example, he insisted she eat three items on her dinner plate incrementally in a clockwise rotation; if she didn't he would become violent. In desperation at age 17, she paid a classmate $400 to kill her father. She was sentenced to six months in jail for what was, in Stone's words, "in effect a self-defense killing."
IMPULSIVE MURDERERS
People who are not really psychopaths, not subject to routine unspeakable acts without remorse. "Ordinary people that get caught in some terrible situation," Stone says
2. Jealous Lovers, Non-Psychopathic
Though egocentric or immature, evildoers in this category committed their crimes in the heat of passion.
Jean Harris
School director Jean Harris led an exemplary life before she became romantically involved with "Scarsdale Diet" doctor Herman Tarnower. But when she found another woman's panties in his dresser, she snapped. Harris shot her lover to death in a crime of passion — and was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
3. Willing Companions Of Killers
Still far from psychopathic, some have antisocial traits and an aberrant personality. They're often driven by impulse.
Cindy Campbell
Jack Olsen's 1987 book Cold Kill describes Cindy Campbell as a manipulative, chaotic woman. She claimed she was the victim of incest and was accused of enlisting her lover, David West, to kill her parents in their sleep. Both she and West were convicted of murder.
4. Provocative "Self-Defense"
These people kill in self-defense, but they aren't entirely innocent themselves; they may have been "extremely provocative" toward their victim.
Susan Cummings
A shy, tomboyish daughter of a billionaire arms trader, Susan Cummings fell in love with an Argentine polo player, Roberto Villegas. But after two years together, they fought: She was stingy and began to refuse sex; he would get angry and verbally abusive. Finally she shot him to death in her kitchen in 1997. Originally charged with first-degree murder, she was ultimately convicted of voluntary manslaughter and sentenced to 60 days in jail.
5. Desperate Measures
These are traumatized, desperate killers of abusive relatives or others — but they lack “significant psychopathic traits” and are genuinely remorseful.
Susan Wyche
Susan Wyche was a topless dancer who married and had a child with Jeff Wright, a successful carpet salesman from Houston. He used cocaine, had affairs, gave Susan herpes and was physically abusive. In 2003, she reached a breaking point, and in a fit of rage stabbed him 193 times. Portrayed as a battered wife by the defense and a vicious seductress by the prosecution, she was given a relatively light sentence: 25 years. A new punishment hearing is set for October.
6. Hot Heads
Killers who act in an impetuous moment, yet without marked psychopathic features
Issei Sagawa
Born in Japan, Issei Sagawa was pampered by his mother, but became highly irritable and prone to tantrums. In high school, he developed cannibalistic fantasies, and in 1981 he was accused of carrying one out in Paris. His victim: a Dutch student named Renee Hartevelt. He lured her to his apartment, shot her to death, sexually assaulted the body and then began eating her muscle tissue. He was declared legally insane in France and sent back to Japan, where he was released from a mental institution in 1986. He's now a minor celebrity and has written books and magazine articles about his experience.
7. Narcissists
Highly narcissistic killers who are often possessive, not distinctly psychopathic, but "with a psychopathic core." They typically kill loved ones or family members out of jealousy.
Prosenjit Poddar
In 1968, college student Prosenjit Poddar met Tatiana Tarasoff at a dance class in California. They dated briefly but she rejected him. Poddar then told his therapist about wanting to kill her. His therapist wanted to commit him to hospital, but Poddar convinced campus police he was not dangerous. In the summer of 1969, after she returned from a vacation, Poddar stabbed Tarasoff to death with a kitchen knife. Poddar was convicted and deported back to India after his conviction was overturned. Her parents sued the campus police for failing to warn that their daughter was in danger. This led to the famous Tarasoff decision, which ruled physicians now must warn potential victims of a psychiatric patient.
8. Fit of Rage
Non-psychopathic people, who live with an underlying, smoldering rage, then kill when that rage is ignited.
Charles Whitman
n 1966, ex-Marine Charles Whitman gunned down his wife and his mother, then ascended a tower at the University of Texas and began shooting people with a rifle. He killed 14 people and wounded 32, before being shot and killed by police. His early life was plagued by physical abuse by his father. A UT psychologist who met with Whitman before the murders described him as "oozing with hostility." An autopsy revealed that he had a brain tumor, which may have contributed to his rage.
SEMI-PSYCHOPATHS
Those who show a "fair number" of psychopathic traits — grandiosity, superficial charm, or general lack of remorse.
9. Jealous Lovers, Psychopathic
The scale's first foray into psychopathic territory, these killers are jealous lovers but with marked psychopathic features.
Paul Snider
Paul Snider "discovered" Dorothy Stratten when she was working at a Dairy Queen at age 17. He became her manager and steered her to Playboy magazine, where she became Playmate of the Year in 1980. They married, but their relationship soon deteriorated, and she became involved with film director Peter Bogdanovich. In a jealous rage, Snider lured her to his apartment and shot her to death with a rifle before killing himself. Bob Fosse made a film about her tragic life, Star 80.
10. "In The Way" Killers, Not Fully Psychopathic
Killers of witnesses or people who are simply "in the way." These evildoers are egocentric, but not totally psychopathic.
John List
Born in 1925, John List was described as rigid, joyless, angry and a neighborhood crank. A failed accountant with poor executive ability, he kept losing jobs, yet bought a big house for his wife and three children — which he couldn't afford. Caught between his indebtedness and his monstrous pride, he decided to kill his family. In 1971, he shot and killed his mother, wife and children, and fled to Colorado under an assumed name. He was at large for 18 years, until an image constructed by a forensic anthropologist was broadcast on America's Most Wanted. He died in prison in 2008 at age 82.
11. "In The Way" Psychopaths
Psychopathic killers of people "in the way." Premeditation is not usually a major factor in their killings.
Jeffrey MacDonald
An Army Green Beret doctor named Jeffrey MacDonald began showing signs of violence and hatred of women in his adolescence. In 1970, was accused of killing his wife and daughters, and then staging the scene to look like a cult slaying in the mold of Charles Manson. MacDonald was convicted of murder, but his case — the subject of the book Fatal Vision — has dragged on for four decades. In August 2010, his lawyers filed a brief in federal court asking for a new trial and claiming that DNA evidence could prove MacDonald's innocence.
12. Power-Hungry And Cornered
Power-hungry psychopaths who kill when "cornered," or placed in a situation they wouldn't be able to escape with their power intact.
Jim Jones
Born in 1931, Jim Jones was attracted early on to a Pentecostal religious group that practiced "speaking in tongues." He later became a charismatic leader of the Peoples Temple. Grandiose and fanatic, as well as psychopathic and paranoid, he gathered a large group of followers and moved with them to Guyana. In 1978, U.S. Rep. Leo Ryan and his entourage went to Guyana to investigate; he and four others were shot and killed. Cornered, Jones told his followers to commit group suicide. In all, 914 people died, 276 of them children. He also took his own life.
13. Inadequate And Rageful
Murderers with shortcomings that follow them throughout life, who also express psychopathic impulses and are prone to rage
Karla Faye Tucker
Karla Faye Tucker was born the illegitimate daughter of prostitute and abused drugs since she was 9. She married at 16 — by which time she had already had a hysterectomy for pelvic inflammatory disease. She divorced at 20. In 1983, she and boyfriend Daniel Garrett invaded the apartment of Jerry Lynn Dean while the two were high on methadone, valium, heroin and alcohol. Tucker and Garrett killed Dean and the woman he was with, using a hammer and pickaxe. After 14 years on death row, she was executed in 1998. She was the first woman executed in Texas since the Civil War.
14. Schemers
Ruthlessly self-centered and psychopathic, schemers stop at nothing to deceive, con and steal.
Sante Kimes
Sante Kimes was born in 1934 and soon became a self-trained con artist. Briefly married to Lee Powers, she had a son, Kenny. Many more thefts followed, along with use of numerous aliases. She made her son into a kind of slave; the two became "grifters" — accomplished at stealing. In 1998 she and her son conned their way into the good graces of Irene Silverman, a wealthy Fifth Avenue widow in New York City. They got her to sign over her property and then killed her, disposing of her body. Kimes is a classic psychopath, and is considered responsible for other murders besides that of Silverman. She and her son are serving life sentences.
15. Cold-Blooded Spree
Murderers who kill multiple people calmly and with a psychopathic motive. Often pathological in their denial of guilt or inability to confront reality.
Charles Manson
Charles Manson was born in 1934 to a troubled family. At a young age, he began stealing, ending up in reformatories then jail and prisons. In his 30s he began to attract a following of waif-like women who were in his thrall. Then in 1969 he had his group invade the home of pregnant actress Sharon Tate, killing her, her unborn baby and four friends. Later they killed Rosemary LaBianca, scrawling "Death to Pigs" in her blood around the house. He received the death penalty, later commuted to a life term in Corcoran Prison in California.
PSYCHOPATHS
Fully psychopathic by every modern definition.
16. Vicious Psychopaths
Those who commit multiple vicious acts that may also include murder, rape or mutilation.
Miyazaki Tsutomu
Born in 1962 into a wealthy Japanese family, Miyazaki Tsutomu had a congenital hand defect, such that he was unable to hold his hands palm-up. He was ostracized as a child and began to lurk around young girls, stalking them. In 1989, he kidnapped and murdered four young girls, mutilated their bodies and drank the blood of one victim. When his crimes were discovered, his father committed suicide out of shame. Miyazaki coldly regarded that as "just punishment" for not raising him correctly. He was executed in Tokyo in 2008.
17. The Sexually Perverse
Serial killers with some element of sexual perversion in their crimes. In males, rape is usually the primary motive and killing follows to hide the evidence. Torture is not a primary motive.
Ted Bundy
Ted Bundy was born in 1946, performed well in school and was acutely shy. His sexual homicides began in earnest in 1974, near his alma mater, the University of Washington. He worked his way down to Florida, luring, raping and killing at least 28 girls en route. He escaped from a Colorado prison in 1977, and continued killing until identified and apprehended (thanks to bite marks that matched his teeth) in 1978. He was executed in Florida in 1989.
18. Torturing Murderers
Though psychotic, they do not typically prolong their torture. Murder, not torture, is their primary motivation.
Gary Ridgeway
Gary Ridgeway, a.k.a the "Green River Killer," grew up in Washington state. He was troubled by his sexual attraction to his mother and of his feelings of lust and humiliation. He's one of the serial killers showing the famous childhood "triad" of bed-wetting, fire-setting, and animal torture. He began serial killing of prostitutes in earnest after a third divorce in 1982. Some investigators believe he may have killed as many as 90 women, subjecting some to bondage or necrophilia. He's now serving 48 life sentences plus 480 years.
19. Non-Homicidal Psychopaths
Psychopaths who fall short of murder, yet engage in terrorism, subjugation, intimidation or rape.
Gary Steven Krist
Gary Steven Krist had served prison time for robbery and fraud in three different states before he was 18. Out of prison in 1968 at age 23, he planned a ransom kidnapping. His victim was Barbara Mackle. Krist buried her underground, allowing her to breathe using a tube, while he awaited a $500,000 ransom from her father. She was rescued after 83 hours buried alive. He was sentenced to life in prison, but was paroled and later convicted of importing cocaine into the United States. He's in a federal prison in Florida, with a planned release in November 2010.
20. Murdering Torturers
Psychotic (legally insane) and primarily motivated by their desire to torture.
Joseph Kallinger
From a young age, Joseph Kallinger's foster family abused him so severely that at age 6 he suffered a hernia inflicted by his foster father. He was psychotic and schizophrenic, and when he married and had children, he was equally brutal. In 1972 he was held on charges of child abuse but was later released. In 1974, he and his 13-year-old son Michael began to break into houses in Philadelphia, Baltimore and New Jersey, where they terrorized and tortured four families, and then sexually assaulted and killed a 21-year-old nurse. Finally arrested, he was sentenced to life, and then sent to a mental hospital where he died in 1996 at age 59.
21. Pure Torturers
Not all torturers murder. These psychopaths (evaluated to be in touch with reality) are preoccupied with torture "in the extreme," but never convicted of murder.
Cameron Hooker
Cameron Hooker was born in 1953. As he grew older he read pornography, particularly that which portrayed women being tortured. He married his wife, Janice, in 1975. He fantasized about having his own sex slave and allegedly reached an agreement with his wife that she could have a baby if he could have a sex slave. After the birth of their child, Hooker kidnapped 20-year-old Colleen Stan in 1977 and kept her captive for seven years. She was whipped, strangled, burned, electrically shocked and raped. For much of that time, she was locked inside a box for 23 hours a day. She and Hooker's wife fled together in 1984. He was convicted and sentenced to 104 years in prison.
22. Psychopathic Torture-Murderers
Defined by a primary motivation to inflict prolonged, diabolical torture. Most in this category are male serial killers.
Jeffrey Dahmer
Born in 1960 in Milwaukee, Jeffrey Dahmer was sexually molested by a neighbor when he was 8. At 10, he was decapitating animals and mounting their heads on stakes in the backyard. At 17 he committed his first murder, a male hitchhiker whom he bludgeoned, strangled, dismembered and buried. After a failed stint in the Army, his serial killing began in earnest in the late 80s, ending up with at least 17 victims — all males, some homosexual, like Dahmer. Finally arrested in 1991, he was convicted the next year of 15 murders and sentenced to 936 years in prison. In 1994, another inmate at the Columbia Correctional Institution in Wisconsin bludgeoned Dahmer to death with a bar from a weight machine.

Hi Everyone! I am Craig, a 23 year old recent graduate of the University of Minnesota and have been reading the forums on this site and keeping up with DP news around the nation since I was in high school. I come from an extremely liberal (not saying that is necessarily a bad thing to those of you who lean left) state and city (Minneapolis) and have worked with groups and written policymakers for several years in an attempt to bring the death penalty back to MN; concentrating namely on the sad case of 19 yr old Katie Poirier who was abducted from her place of work, raped, strangled, set on fire and then buried in a shallow grave behind SIX-time convicted felon, Donald Blum's trailer home. His previous charges included rape, sexual assault, and kidnapping. That SICKENS and saddens me to no end. It never should have happened! I was only 12 when this occurred but still remember the fear I felt even after his arrest because she was abducted while working at a gas station my family would ritually stop at to buy snacks on the drive to our cabin as a kid. The majority of my friends in the Twin Cities and MN are anti-dp and try to shame me and at times ridicule me for my seemingly futile attempts at reinstating the DP here, so I am hoping to be able to engage in discussion with others here who will share their views with me and continue to stand up and defend ALL victims (including surviving ones) of unspeakable crimes.
To all of you on this site: I'd like to extend a sincere THANK YOU for helping to maintain justice and keep safe innocent people. Keep up the good work!

From the time I was a child, few things held my interest more than rockets and space flight. My family took me on tours of NASA, and I collected all the brochures. Even, now I have a box of newspaper clippings from the first space shuttle launch in 1981, and on my office wall is the op-ed page from the Houston Chronicle in 2003, where Buzz Aldrin and I shared our thoughts on the Columbia accident. Now, after so many years of school and work, it pains me to see what is happening to the agency that once took Americans to the moon. When Barack Obama's hand-picked head of NASA says that his foremost duty is for better relations with the Muslim world, then something is seriously wrong. Build rockets. Explore the heavens. And leave the Obama politics where it belongs!
As reported on FoxNews.com, NASA Administrator Charles Bolden told Al Jazeera news service that when Obama appointed him to the job, Bolden was tasked with three tasks:
"When I became the NASA administrator -- or before I became the NASA administrator -- he charged me with three things. One was he wanted me to help re-inspire children to want to get into science and math, he wanted me to expand our international relationships, and third, and perhaps foremost, he wanted me to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science ... and math and engineering," Bolden said in the interview.
Ok, let's look at these points. First, of all what is the point of inspiring children to want to "get into" science and math if the end result is working at an organization as messed up as NASA is. When I was a kid, I was steered toward math and science, and I was excited about it because Americans had landed on the moon and now there was this cool, new space shuttle heading into orbit. My mind wandered at the possibilities... imaginiing all the places we'd explore over the next 30 years. Ha! What a bad joke.
Next we have the comments about international relationships. It's all well and good to build partnerships, but America could have a million partners, and it won't matter at all if there is not a clear vision. We can't accomplish anything unless we have targets to shoot for.
And, of course, we have Bolden's comment that his "foremost" task is to "reach out to the Muslim world." Whatever! NASA is about aerodynamic research, space exploration, science, and technology. It is about the people I went to school with who have devoted their entire careers to be part of the generation that does the "next big thing" after putting Americans on the moon. And now, the NASA administrator's top job is building Muslim relations?
Simply put, Bolden should be fired, and Obama should appoint someone who knows what's going on. Of course, that would mean Obama would need to know what's going on as well, and clearly he doesn't. The once mighty NASA is crippled and weak and has no vision. The only thing that has inspired engineers in the space program recently is the Constellation program which would ultimately return Americans to the moon and then to Mars. But, under Bolden's watch and Obama's direction, that program has been cancelled.
It's so sad to see how the agency has fallen. Of course, part of that is due to the fact that even though it is focused on math and science, it is still a government bureaucracy. I have seen engineers piddle for close to 20 years on the same hardware tests without achieving any real results except to piddle some more. Tasks move at a snail's pace, and there is no real motivation to get things done as there would be in a private corporation. However, there are still good, smart, talented people there who want to move the space program ahead.
NASA is not about "feeling good about past achievements." NASA is about exploring the stars. That's how children become inspired... by results, not rhetoric.

Must agree with Cliffystones. There's no evidence that any moslem ever contributed anything to math, engineering, or science. It's a pagan cult that looks askance at such things.
Their major contribution to the world has been poverty, ignorance, and bloodthirst. No one could possibly name an institute of higher learning with any stature in any moslem country.
Perhaps the boy in the White House is hoping to drag the moslems into the 21st century. Good luck. They're still stuck in the 7th.

Those who do go to school are just taught the Koran. The only math and science they are interested in is that of the nuclear bomb. Thank goodness for the Crusades or the whole world could still be living in the Middle Ages.

I saw this over the weekend and just about had a come-apart. It is worthless for me to spend more than 30 seconds discussing this nonsensical drivel given the fact that all of us on this post can see the light.
But I will say this: There was a day when the aerospace industry created genuine heroes, larger-than-life people like Chuck Yeager, John Glenn, Gus Grissom, Buzz Aldrin, and Neil Armstrong who inspired young men and women to rise out of their lowly every-day life and challenge themselves to the impossible...to go where mankind had not yet been, whether it was breaking the sound barrier, breaking the bonds of our atmosphere, or breaking ground on the moon. And for a while we Americans supported that dream, that adventure, understanding that the space program was the equivalent of those who traveled westward a hundred years previous, crossing into new frontiers so that those of us who were not so bold might someday follow.
In 1961, President Kennedy challenged the country to put a man on the moon by the end of the decade and this country responded in a way only America can. The original seven astronauts watched as their proposed launch vehicle failed (think BLEW UP) numerous times, yet they were still willing to put themselves in harms way to achieve the goal. Brave men died, including three who burned up in a capsule fire in 1967. But by God, on July 20, 1969, we landed that lunar module on the moon's surface and put two guys footprints all over that sucker, fulfilling President Kennedy's call to action.
Today if that challenge were issued by a president equally as bold, equally as charismatic, American couldn't rise to the challenge; lawyers, safety concerns, bureaucratic red tape, and a liberal media willing to crucify every dollar spent on space exploration over-burden those brave souls who wish to become modern-day heroes. This is the bloated, litigious, monolithe our country has become. And BHO adds insult to injury by suggesting NASA should be the welcome-wagon for the very pigs who brought down our towers.
Only twelve people in all of human history have set foot on the moon's surface...TWELVE PEOPLE out of the tens-of-billions that have come and gone throughout the millenia. All of them were American. And all of them did it FORTY YEARS AGO.

As an MIT graduate in Aeronautics and Astronautics, and an MS from UW-Seattle, I have seen those of us trained in the '80s literally thrown away in the '90s as no longer needed (Clinton had a famous 1993 meeting with the industry leaders to tell them to shrink). A Duke MBA without a desire to go to Wall/Bailout Street didn't help since HR (Human Remains) departments don't like career changers, or those with gaps caused by their ignorance. I make my living now growing businesses in Afghanistan, and creating jobs there. 12 trips for roughly one year total has given me an insight into how in many parts of the world, tolerance only works one way, everything is win-lose (like a negotiation in a bazaar) and there is pride in taking from others with no obligation to repay or respect others. It was not a mistake that Karzai referred twice to Iran as his "brothers" during the May press conference in D.C. with BO; but not once referred to America (a non-mulsim nation) as his 'brothers,' or when he told Bush in December 2008 that he "will not let the international community leave until we take billions more" (not receive, but 'take.') We must defend our values and realize that this is a thousand year battle to keep others in the West from just giving away everything that our ancestors have worked for. There is no shame in that.

This is so sad and depressing, however, this is a good example of what has happened to this country and how far off of the mark it has gone.
The current generation of leaders in this country apparently have no idea of the impact the space efforts of this country have had on this country in so many positive ways, and our government has allowed those that do not understand and who have no vision, to undermine our space efforts to the point that we have to buy time from the Russians if we want to participate in the space station activities.
We have no replacement for the shuttle or money to develop any new potential space exploration vehicles. Some day, what we have here on earth is not going to sustain the overpopulation that is on its way, and we will have no back-up to that situation. If we had continued our space efforts and invested in the technology required to make space travel more practical, it would have benefited everyone on earth over the long run. Now, instead of being the leader in space exploration and technology, we are a follower to the Russians and Chinese. How does that grab you?
Most people either have forgotten, or didn't know that much of the amazing technology we now enjoy in our everyday life was originally developed for our major space efforts. Technology like semiconductors, integrated circuits, wireless technology, CAT Scan technology, the expansion of digital technology, software technology, advancements in materials technology, advancements in a medical technology, solar energy technology, battery technology, etc. There are too many basic technology advancements to list here that most people think just happened in some random manner and do not know how and who made the breakthroughs in these areas.
Most people want to move away from fossil fuels over time to an array of alternative energy concepts. If we had continued funding NASA to push for advanced technologies, we would be much farther along in the development of alternative energy concepts.
Obama doesn't have a feel for the impact of our moon efforts, etc. or he wouldn't be making these stupid statements, and his new NASA Director apparently is not any better informed. I would not want to work for NASA at this time in our history. They have got to be dramatically demoralized and disenfranchised.
The USA is in big trouble with Obama and his cohorts in control. There is not one area that they are handling in a mature professional manner that reflects the history and tradition of this country. Their priorities are all screwed up and they believe that all of us that complain just do not get it.
They are the ones that do not get it, and we have to vote them out now. We should actually impeach Obama due to incompetence in his abilities to perform as the leader of the free world and President of this country.

Mistertea: "Polymath" and "polymathic" are terms used to describe someone who is very studied in multiple disciplines. It has nothing to do with math, although mathmatic disciplines may be one of the many areas of expertise of a polymath. And while there is no denying that Islam experienced a Golden Age at the end of the first millenia, their contributions over the past several hundred years have been less than exemplary, and in the 20th and 21st Centuries have been downright horrid on many accounts.

I have always been fascinated with space travel. Growing up 1hour from the Marshall Space Flight Center, I always loved to visit the Space Center.
I saw Ms. Baker (2nd monkey in space) on a 3rd grade field trip. I could never spend enough time there. Watched the first space shuttle lauch at school in 2nd grade. I saw the Challenger and Columbia tragedies and knew that was just the accepted danger of space travel. Last year I saw the space shuttle Atlantis fly up through the clouds and into space while driving my family to Disney World. Now Obama single-handedly will erase the dreams of todays children (and yesterdays grown ones) by cancelling the plans to go back to the moon and then to Mars. I was so excited when Bush announced it. Then here comes Obama the people's president. He wants to use NASA to study global climate change. BOGUS. I teach my children not to hate and not to even use the word hate. Obama has made me a hypocryte, because I HATE everything he has ever supported or proposed. But think about it you guys, if he is impeached we would then be left with President Biden. Thank about that!

It has everything to do with redistribution of income, government control of the economy and a criminal payoff to Obama's biggest contributors. Those powerful and wealthy unions and contributors (like GE, which owns NBC, MSNBC and CNBC) can then be counted on to support everything Obama wants. They will kick-back hundreds of millions of dollars in contributions to Obama and the Democratic Party to keep them in power. The bonus is that all the new taxes on Americans with bigger cars, bigger homes and businesses helps Obama "spread the wealth around."
-- Make Puerto Rico a state. Why? Who's asking for a 51st state? Who's asking for millions of new welfare recipients and government entitlement addicts in the middle of a depression? Certainly not American taxpayers. But this has been Obama's plan all along. His goal is to add two new Democrat senators, five Democrat congressman and a million loyal Democratic voters who are dependent on big government.
-- Legalize 12 million illegal immigrants. Just giving these 12 million potential new citizens free health care alone could overwhelm the system and bankrupt America. But it adds 12 million reliable new Democrat voters who can be counted on to support big government. Add another few trillion dollars in welfare, aid to dependent children, food stamps, free medical, education, tax credits for the poor, and eventually Social Security.
-- Stimulus and bailouts. Where did all that money go? It went to Democrat contributors, organizations (ACORN), and unions -- including billions of dollars to save or create jobs of government employees across the country. It went to save GM and Chrysler so that their employees could keep paying union dues. It went to AIG so that Goldman Sachs could be bailed out (after giving Obama almost $1 million in contributions). A staggering $125 billion went to teachers (thereby protecting their union dues). All those public employees will vote loyally Democrat to protect their bloated salaries and pensions that are bankrupting America. The country goes broke, future generations face a bleak future, but Obama, the Democrat Party, government, and the unions grow more powerful. The ends justify the means.
-- Raise taxes on small business owners, high-income earners, and job creators. Put the entire burden on only the top 20 percent of taxpayers, redistribute the income, punish success, and reward those who did nothing to deserve it (except vote for Obama). Reagan wanted to dramatically cut taxes in order to starve the government. Obama wants to dramatically raise taxes to starve his political opposition.
With the acts outlined above, Obama and his regime have created a vast and rapidly expanding constituency of voters dependent on big government; a vast privileged class of public employees who work for big government; and a government dedicated to destroying capitalism and installing themselves as socialist rulers by overwhelming the system.

From the time I was a child, few things held my interest more than rockets and space flight. My family took me on tours of NASA, and I collected all the brochures. Even, now I have a box of newspaper clippings from the first space shuttle launch in 1981, and on my office wall is the op-ed page from the Houston Chronicle in 2003, where Buzz Aldrin and I shared our thoughts on the Columbia accident. Now, after so many years of school and work, it pains me to see what is happening to the agency that once took Americans to the moon. When Barack Obama's hand-picked head of NASA says that his foremost duty is for better relations with the Muslim world, then something is seriously wrong. Build rockets. Explore the heavens. And leave the Obama politics where it belongs!
As reported on FoxNews.com, NASA Administrator Charles Bolden told Al Jazeera news service that when Obama appointed him to the job, Bolden was tasked with three tasks:
"When I became the NASA administrator -- or before I became the NASA administrator -- he charged me with three things. One was he wanted me to help re-inspire children to want to get into science and math, he wanted me to expand our international relationships, and third, and perhaps foremost, he wanted me to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science ... and math and engineering," Bolden said in the interview.
Ok, let's look at these points. First, of all what is the point of inspiring children to want to "get into" science and math if the end result is working at an organization as messed up as NASA is. When I was a kid, I was steered toward math and science, and I was excited about it because Americans had landed on the moon and now there was this cool, new space shuttle heading into orbit. My mind wandered at the possibilities... imaginiing all the places we'd explore over the next 30 years. Ha! What a bad joke.
Next we have the comments about international relationships. It's all well and good to build partnerships, but America could have a million partners, and it won't matter at all if there is not a clear vision. We can't accomplish anything unless we have targets to shoot for.
And, of course, we have Bolden's comment that his "foremost" task is to "reach out to the Muslim world." Whatever! NASA is about aerodynamic research, space exploration, science, and technology. It is about the people I went to school with who have devoted their entire careers to be part of the generation that does the "next big thing" after putting Americans on the moon. And now, the NASA administrator's top job is building Muslim relations?
Simply put, Bolden should be fired, and Obama should appoint someone who knows what's going on. Of course, that would mean Obama would need to know what's going on as well, and clearly he doesn't. The once mighty NASA is crippled and weak and has no vision. The only thing that has inspired engineers in the space program recently is the Constellation program which would ultimately return Americans to the moon and then to Mars. But, under Bolden's watch and Obama's direction, that program has been cancelled.
It's so sad to see how the agency has fallen. Of course, part of that is due to the fact that even though it is focused on math and science, it is still a government bureaucracy. I have seen engineers piddle for close to 20 years on the same hardware tests without achieving any real results except to piddle some more. Tasks move at a snail's pace, and there is no real motivation to get things done as there would be in a private corporation. However, there are still good, smart, talented people there who want to move the space program ahead.
NASA is not about "feeling good about past achievements." NASA is about exploring the stars. That's how children become inspired... by results, not rhetoric.

Muslims will not be affected since they do not "tithe" or even contribute to their Mosque but instead Mosques get 'endowment' funds from oil money. I saw this over the weekend and just about had a come-apart. It is worthless for me to spend more than 30 seconds discussing this nonsensical drivel given the fact that all of us on this post can see the light.
But I will say this: There was a day when the aerospace industry created genuine heroes, larger-than-life people like Chuck Yeager, John Glenn, Gus Grissom, Buzz Aldrin, and Neil Armstrong who inspired young men and women to rise out of their lowly every-day life and challenge themselves to the impossible...to go where mankind had not yet been, whether it was breaking the sound barrier, breaking the bonds of our atmosphere, or breaking ground on the moon. And for a while we Americans supported that dream, that adventure, understanding that the space program was the equivalent of those who traveled westward a hundred years previous, crossing into new frontiers so that those of us who were not so bold might someday follow.
In 1961, President Kennedy challenged the country to put a man on the moon by the end of the decade and this country responded in a way only America can. The original seven astronauts watched as their proposed launch vehicle failed (think BLEW UP) numerous times, yet they were still willing to put themselves in harms way to achieve the goal. Brave men died, including three who burned up in a capsule fire in 1967. But by God, on July 20, 1969, we landed that lunar module on the moon's surface and put two guys footprints all over that sucker, fulfilling President Kennedy's call to action.
Today if that challenge were issued by a president equally as bold, equally as charismatic, American couldn't rise to the challenge; lawyers, safety concerns, bureaucratic red tape, and a liberal media willing to crucify every dollar spent on space exploration over-burden those brave souls who wish to become modern-day heroes. This is the bloated, litigious, monolithe our country has become. And BHO adds insult to injury by suggesting NASA should be the welcome-wagon for the very pigs who brought down our towers.
Only twelve people in all of human history have set foot on the moon's surface...TWELVE PEOPLE out of the tens-of-billions that have come and gone throughout the millenia. All of them were American. And all of them did it FORTY YEARS AGO.

As an MIT graduate in Aeronautics and Astronautics, and an MS from UW-Seattle, I have seen those of us trained in the '80s literally thrown away in the '90s as no longer needed (Clinton had a famous 1993 meeting with the industry leaders to tell them to shrink). A Duke MBA without a desire to go to Wall/Bailout Street didn't help since HR (Human Remains) departments don't like career changers, or those with gaps caused by their ignorance. I make my living now growing businesses in Afghanistan, and creating jobs there. 12 trips for roughly one year total has given me an insight into how in many parts of the world, tolerance only works one way, everything is win-lose (like a negotiation in a bazaar) and there is pride in taking from others with no obligation to repay or respect others. It was not a mistake that Karzai referred twice to Iran as his "brothers" during the May press conference in D.C. with BO; but not once referred to America (a non-mulsim nation) as his 'brothers,' or when he told Bush in December 2008 that he "will not let the international community leave until we take billions more" (not receive, but 'take.') We must defend our values and realize that this is a thousand year battle to keep others in the West from just giving away everything that our ancestors have worked for. There is no shame in that.

This is so sad and depressing, however, this is a good example of what has happened to this country and how far off of the mark it has gone.
The current generation of leaders in this country apparently have no idea of the impact the space efforts of this country have had on this country in so many positive ways, and our government has allowed those that do not understand and who have no vision, to undermine our space efforts to the point that we have to buy time from the Russians if we want to participate in the space station activities.
We have no replacement for the shuttle or money to develop any new potential space exploration vehicles. Some day, what we have here on earth is not going to sustain the overpopulation that is on its way, and we will have no back-up to that situation. If we had continued our space efforts and invested in the technology required to make space travel more practical, it would have benefited everyone on earth over the long run. Now, instead of being the leader in space exploration and technology, we are a follower to the Russians and Chinese. How does that grab you?
Most people either have forgotten, or didn't know that much of the amazing technology we now enjoy in our everyday life was originally developed for our major space efforts. Technology like semiconductors, integrated circuits, wireless technology, CAT Scan technology, the expansion of digital technology, software technology, advancements in materials technology, advancements in a medical technology, solar energy technology, battery technology, etc. There are too many basic technology advancements to list here that most people think just happened in some random manner and do not know how and who made the breakthroughs in these areas.
Most people want to move away from fossil fuels over time to an array of alternative energy concepts. If we had continued funding NASA to push for advanced technologies, we would be much farther along in the development of alternative energy concepts.
Obama doesn't have a feel for the impact of our moon efforts, etc. or he wouldn't be making these stupid statements, and his new NASA Director apparently is not any better informed. I would not want to work for NASA at this time in our history. They have got to be dramatically demoralized and disenfranchised.
The USA is in big trouble with Obama and his cohorts in control. There is not one area that they are handling in a mature professional manner that reflects the history and tradition of this country. Their priorities are all screwed up and they believe that all of us that complain just do not get it.
They are the ones that do not get it, and we have to vote them out now. We should actually impeach Obama due to incompetence in his abilities to perform as the leader of the free world and President of this country.

It has nothing to do with math, although mathmatic disciplines may be one of the many areas of expertise of a polymath. I have always been fascinated with space travel. Growing up 1hour from the Marshall Space Flight Center, I always loved to visit the Space Center.
I saw Ms. Baker (2nd monkey in space) on a 3rd grade field trip. I could never spend enough time there. Watched the first space shuttle lauch at school in 2nd grade. I saw the Challenger and Columbia tragedies and knew that was just the accepted danger of space travel. Last year I saw the space shuttle Atlantis fly up through the clouds and into space while driving my family to Disney World. Now Obama single-handedly will erase the dreams of todays children (and yesterdays grown ones) by cancelling the plans to go back to the moon and then to Mars. I was so excited when Bush announced it. Then here comes Obama the people's president. He wants to use NASA to study global climate change. BOGUS. I teach my children not to hate and not to even use the word hate. Obama has made me a hypocryte, because I HATE everything he has ever supported or proposed. But think about it you guys, if he is impeached we would then be left with President Biden. Thank about that!

What he does care about is that it cements the dependence of those 30 million voters to Democrats and big government. -- Cap and trade. Like health care legislation having nothing to do with health care, cap and trade has nothing to do with global warming. It has everything to do with redistribution of income, government control of the economy and a criminal payoff to Obama's biggest contributors. Those powerful and wealthy unions and contributors (like GE, which owns NBC, MSNBC and CNBC) can then be counted on to support everything Obama wants. They will kick-back hundreds of millions of dollars in contributions to Obama and the Democratic Party to keep them in power. The bonus is that all the new taxes on Americans with bigger cars, bigger homes and businesses helps Obama "spread the wealth around."
-- Make Puerto Rico a state. Why? Who's asking for a 51st state? Who's asking for millions of new welfare recipients and government entitlement addicts in the middle of a depression? Certainly not American taxpayers. But this has been Obama's plan all along. His goal is to add two new Democrat senators, five Democrat congressman and a million loyal Democratic voters who are dependent on big government.
-- Legalize 12 million illegal immigrants. Just giving these 12 million potential new citizens free health care alone could overwhelm the system and bankrupt America. But it adds 12 million reliable new Democrat voters who can be counted on to support big government. Add another few trillion dollars in welfare, aid to dependent children, food stamps, free medical, education, tax credits for the poor, and eventually Social Security.
-- Stimulus and bailouts. Where did all that money go? It went to Democrat contributors, organizations (ACORN), and unions -- including billions of dollars to save or create jobs of government employees across the country. It went to save GM and Chrysler so that their employees could keep paying union dues. It went to AIG so that Goldman Sachs could be bailed out (after giving Obama almost $1 million in contributions). A staggering $125 billion went to teachers (thereby protecting their union dues). All those public employees will vote loyally Democrat to protect their bloated salaries and pensions that are bankrupting America. The country goes broke, future generations face a bleak future, but Obama, the Democrat Party, government, and the unions grow more powerful. The ends justify the means.
-- Raise taxes on small business owners, high-income earners, and job creators. Put the entire burden on only the top 20 percent of taxpayers, redistribute the income, punish success, and reward those who did nothing to deserve it (except vote for Obama). Reagan wanted to dramatically cut taxes in order to starve the government. Obama wants to dramatically raise taxes to starve his political opposition.
With the acts outlined above, Obama and his regime have created a vast and rapidly expanding constituency of voters dependent on big government; a vast privileged class of public employees who work for big government; and a government dedicated to destroying capitalism and installing themselves as socialist rulers by overwhelming the system.

2. The US Supreme Court Reinstated the Death Sentences for Anthony Haynes TX DR and
Frank Spisak Ohio DR.
3. The US Supreme Court refused to review the execution protocol for Missouri in the petition
brought before them by Reginald Clemons Missouri Death Row. (Note: This denial should resume
executions in Missouri.
Notable Losses
1. The US Supreme Court Overturned the Death Sentence for Lawrence Jefferson GA DR.
2. The US Supreme Court Remanded the Cases of Albert Holland FL DR, Robert Melson AL DR, and
Marcus Wellons GA DR back to lower courts for further hearings.

New Death Penalty and/or Resentencing Trials
Since the site has been tracking these we currently have 109 inmates either waiting for a new trial or resentencing hearing. An educated guess that number is probably 10 - 20 per cent higher due to some older cases (most notably California and Pennsylvania) that are not contained on the site and that we are finding as they move back for retrials/resentencings.
Net Gain/Loss of Death Row Population
There have been 61 New Death Sentences compared with 29 Executions, 26 Resentencings, and 10 Deaths for a net LOSS of only 4 inmates during the first half of 2010.

* Natural/Biological father - the most common category: child product of man and woman
* Birth father - the biological father of a child who, due to adoption or parental separation, does not raise the child or cannot take care of one.
* Surprise father - where the men did not know that there was a child until possibly years afterwards
* Posthumous father - father died before children were born (or even conceived in the case of artificial insemination)
* Teenage father/youthful father - associated with teenage sexual intercourse
* Non-parental father - unmarried father whose name does not appear on child's birth certificate: does not have legal responsibility but continues to have financial responsibility (UK)
