I was playing around on DPIC today and I thought I would do a couple of searches on their Execution database.  What prompted this was reading some idiot UK Journalist who had written a blog in which he stated that in the USA the proportion of executions of inmates was 80/20 against black people.  When I saw that I could put in a search on the DPIC database here is what I found....................

Which breaks down as below:-

Catherine Marie was born last night at 7:51 pm  she weighed 7 pounds exactly and is 20.5 inches tall.       I am so proud of my daughter, she pushed for 4 minutes and Catherine was born.

I just wanted to say that I am back and I have missed you all so very much. I have been pretty unwell but am triumphant that I am still alive and getting better and want to participate in life again :-)

Lottery winner on food stamps even after $1 million jackpot

People love stories about someone winning the lottery and then giving the money away. They’re less likely to feel fondly about Amanda Clayton, who won $1 million in the Michigan State Lottery but is still collecting food stamps.



“I thought that they would cut me off, but since they didn’t, I thought maybe it was OK because I’m not working,” Clayton, 24, told Local 4 news in Detroit.

Back in December, a woman in Washington State fell under scrutiny when it was revealed she was receiving state economic benefits even though she lives in a $1 million waterfront home on Lake Washington.

Clayton, who says she owns two homes and a new car, receives $200 a month in food assistance from the state-issued Michigan Bridge Card, which is meant to benefit lower-income residents in the nation’s eigth most economically depressed state.

I was reading through the" Intelligent Debate " thread and seen this signature in time2partee { Hope I got ur name right } post and it got me to thinking about a few things .

When I read this quote ,my first feeling was anger . I am of the belief that all murder is equally evil   ,not just the murders that the communty  deems " so grievous an affront to humanity that the only adequate response may be the penalty of death."  I truly believe all murderers should be sentenced the same, and since I am against the DP , I feel it should be LWOP under Supermax conditions

 . Its the inconsistancies in sentencing that upset me .   This picking and choosing what case is more henious ,more deserving of the DP just seems wrong to me . It is almost like the courts are saying since certain murders wasnt  "so grievous an affront to humanity " their killers shouldnt be sentenced to death . A victim is a victim regardless of who they are ,whether they are a child , a upstanding citizen , a hooker ,or  a gay person . Its like saying one murder victim matters more than another .All murder victims should matter , not just the ones that evoke outrage from the community .

Off my soap box now ,although I might add more later . LOL

How to Keep Young People from Becoming Socialists



An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire class. That class had insisted that Obama’s socialism worked; and that no one would be poor, and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said, “OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama’s plan”. All grades will be averaged, and everyone will receive the same grade; so, no one will fail, and no one will receive an A (substituting grades for dollars — something closer to home, and more readily understood by all).

After the first test, the grades were averaged; and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset, and the students who studied little were happy. As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less; and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride, too, so they studied little.

The second test average was a D! No one was happy.

When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.

As the tests proceeded, the scores never increased as bickering, blame, and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings; and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.

To their great surprise, ALL FAILED! The professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great, but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.

Couldn’t be any simpler.

These should be memorized by every young person:

1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!

5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.

A South African court has blocked the government from buying 11 million Chinese condoms, saying they are too small, a newspaper reported Friday.

The finance ministry had awarded a contract to a firm called Siqamba Medical, which planned to buy the Phoenurse condoms from China, the Beeld newspaper said.

A rival firm, Sekunjalo Investments Corporation, turned to the High Court in Pretoria after losing the bid, arguing that their condoms were 20 percent larger than the Chinese ones.

Judge Sulet Potterill blocked the deal with Siqamba, ruling that the condoms were too small, made from the wrong material, and were not approved by the World Health Organisation, the paper said.

South Africa has more HIV infections than any country in the world, with 5.38 million of its 50 million people carrying the virus.


 

SACRAMENTO- The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) today announced it has begun reporting Facebook accounts set up and monitored by prison inmates to the Facebook Security Department.
Facebook accounts set up and/or monitored on behalf of an inmate will be removed, as it is a violation of Facebook’s user policies.

“Access to social media allows inmates to circumvent our monitoring process and continue to engage in criminal activity,” CDCR Secretary Matthew Cate said. “This new cooperation between law enforcement and Facebook will help protect the community and potentially avoid future victims.”

The Federal Bureau of Prisons National Gang Intelligence Center has reported increasing instances of inmates with active Facebook accounts. These active accounts are either maintained illegally by inmates or are administered by an outside person on behalf of the inmate.

As part of its ongoing efforts to ensure public safety both inside and outside the state’s prisons, CDCR has been actively monitoring Facebook for accounts administered by inmates or on behalf of an inmate. The department has seen numerous instances in which inmates, using their Facebook accounts, have delivered threats to victims or have made unwanted sexual advances.

Last year, CDCR received a call from a mother of a victim of a child molester. The family had just returned from vacation to find several pieces of mail from the offender who was in state prison. The mail contained accurate drawings of the woman’s 17-year old daughter, even though it had been at least seven years since the offender had been convicted and sent to prison. Details of the victim, such as how she wore her hair and the brand of clothes she wore were accurate. An investigation revealed the inmate had used a cell phone to find and view the MySpace and Facebook web pages of the victim. With access to the pages, the offender was able to obtain current photos, which he used to draw his pictures.

Inmates are allowed to have Facebook profiles created prior to incarceration. If any evidence shows the account has been used while in the facility, Facebook Security will disable the account.

Over the past few years CDCR has seen a massive influx in the number of cell phones being used by prisoners. In 2006, correctional officers confiscated 261 devices, while in the first six months of this year, more than 7,284 were confiscated.
