on: February 27, 2013, 01:14:11 PM 2 Off Topic / Off Topic - Anything / Update on my daughter! :)

I am just going to copy and paste my facebook updates here also.   I thought I would have time to sit at the computer each day but it just hasnt been the case. Every minute is devoted to her.

Ali is in the Rehab hospital. She has limited use of her hands and a little bit of range of motion from the elbows down along with "some" movement of her shoulders, the right arm being the strongest. Her face, trunk and legs are still paralyzed. She had developed an infection and more recently she has gall bladder issues and her liver tests came back high so a gastroenterologist has been in to see her and is watching her closely. She is in excruciating pain, she's very fatigued but bless her little heart she attempts to do anything they ask of her which isn't much, hold a spoon, hold her pill cup, etc, very basic stuff but she is my hero!!! :) I've taken over caring for her from the minute I arrived and oh boy what a team we are, a pathetic team at times but we get things done. :)

Even though I was well aware of her condition every step of the way before I got here, nothing could have prepared me for the reality of it, I feel like I have been going on adrenaline only and haven't allowed myself a moment yet to step back and take it all in. I am afraid if I do I will just explode.  The nurses and staff are amazing!!!!   They brought a bed into her room for me and I am staying with her 24/7. If I take a 2 minutes break to step outside Ali is on the phone ushering me back to her room, it is quite adorable. Before GBS struck her she could be quite a demanding little chit, but here and now she is so full of love and sweetness. I cannot express how proud I am of her and her determination to fight this.

And the video below is for my special someone here, he will know why!!! I already told her when she is up and walking that her and I need to have someone video us doing the happy dance together.  :)

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the big house
Not a prisoner was stirring, not even a mouse.
The cells were all locked by the CO’s with care,
In hopes that a death warrant soon would be there.

The convicts were lying on hard iron beds,
While visions of gurneys danced in their heads.
And warden in his despair, and I in my cap,
Hoped to give one more prisoner more than a long winter’s nap.

on: November 14, 2012, 02:46:02 AM 4 Off Topic / Off Topic - Anything / I have the BEST job in the world

My official job title is "Companion Animals Training and Education Officer" which means i get to help the community as a dog trainer employed by a Local Government. But the end of the School year is my favorite time!!! Today My dog and I met over 200 kids from prep (pre year 1) to year 4 and had the chance to talk about bite prevention and responsible pet ownership. Tomorrow we have 200 more from 5-7 for more of the same. Friday is the same at a different school. I get to make life safer for children and better for dogs at the same time!!! The best bit is i get to take my dog to work every day!!! Every normal day I get to go out into the community and talk one on one to dog owners to help resolve barking problems in the community!! I also do community dog education programs from helping young adults care for their dogs, know where to responsibly get them from and what they need to keep them safely. I do antenatal classes (bringing a new baby home to a house with a dog) and adult bite avoidance classes!!!

Just wanted to brag about my job and the fact I get to take my dog to work every day!!!

on: June 25, 2012, 07:25:13 AM 5 General Death Penalty / U.S. Death Penalty Discussion / Again: "Life Without Parole" Isn't!

http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_SUPREME_COURT_JUVENILE_LIFE_SENTENCES?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2012-06-25-10-12-16

Quote
WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Supreme Court says it's unconstitutional to sentence juveniles to life in prison without parole for murder.

The high court on Monday threw out Americans' ability to send children to prison for the rest of their lives with no chance of ever getting out. The 5-4 decision is in line with others the court has made, including ruling out the death penalty for juveniles and life without parole for young people whose crimes did not involve killing.

The decision came in the robbery and murder cases of Evan Miller and Kuntrell Jackson, who were 14 when they were convicted.

Miller was convicted of killing a man in Alabama. Jackson was convicted of being an accomplice in an Arkansas robbery that ended in murder.

Life Without Parole will only exist until someone is successful in suing to overturn it.  If it can be done for juveniles, it's only a matter of time before a court rules the 8th amendment prevents keeping adults in prison without the possibility of parole.

The death penalty is not a deterrent; it never will be.  It does, however, absolutely (and irreversibly) protect society against a psychopath murdering an innocent victim again.

on: December 16, 2011, 07:05:36 PM 12 General Death Penalty / U.S. Death Penalty Discussion / Christmas on death row..

Quote from over at PTO....

Quote
This was written by Mike Lambrix a Florida DR inmate for over 25 years. In this blog he talks about Christmas 2009. Be warned, it's hard to read.

In the world renowned classic Christmas story “The Christmas Carol”, crabby old Scrooge was visited upon by the Ghost of the Christmas Spirit. Perhaps this tale touches each of us in it’s own way as we too each find ourselves reflecting upon what once was and what might have been if only our lives had taken a different turn at a particular fork in the road at some point so many, many moons ago.

As I write this, it is Christmas day, 2009. A with each Christmas now for over a quarter of a century I sit in a solitary cell on Florida’s death row. It has become a world of loneliness and despair, of overwhelming sense of abandonment and regret that I have become only too familiar with – a virtual hell that neither body or mind can ever truly escape from as once one has descended into the “bowels of the beast” it becomes branded forever on your soul as a never ending nightmare that one will never awaken from.

But the manmade hell of steel and stone have become the only world that I know now and although the eternal nightmare is as constant as the sun rising with each day, on some days it becomes worse and today is one of those days. Today I will again struggle with the ghosts of Christmas and find myself tormented and haunted by what once was and what might have been, if only.

???
If only on the night of of February 5, 1983 you had not beaten and strangled Lawrence and Aleisha to death? Tell ya what scumbag, i'm adding you to my Christmas wish list, it is my wish that you receive an execution date this coming year, get your anti-crime vaccine without any further delays and end your torment.  How's that?   Happy Holidays Scumbag!

on: December 02, 2011, 04:46:42 AM 13 General Death Penalty / U.S. Death Penalty Discussion / A question: Why does it take so long for an execution to be carried out?

A number of people have asked the question:  "Why does it take sometimes decades for someone to finally be executed?"  Of course, there are a number of factors to be considered when answering that question.  It's probably THE question about the whole debate about capital punishment that can have one answer one day and an entirely different answer another day.  It is constantly evolving.

I understand the fact that defense attorneys are required under their oaths, ethical standards, etc. as "officers of the court" to vigorously defend their clients. I get that part.  Unfortunately, that in most cases includes defense lawyers throwing up one legal road block after the other, just to keep their clients alive and their appeals flowing.

There are some people on death rows across the country who have been fighting to stay alive for over 20 years.

All the while, the victim's families are denied seeing justice finally done.  It can take decades.  However, in my humble opinion, the legal wrangling has to stop some place and the legally imposed sentence of the court must some day be carried out.

Judges and lawmakers across the country are working on ways to speed up the process, such as by cutting the number of avenues of appeal that are available to a condemned inmate, imposing strict deadlines by which appeals and requests for post-conviction relief must be filed, and so forth.  That will speed up the process somewhat.

The death penalty in states where it is on the books will continue to be sought in the most aggregious and heinous of cases.  Some jurisdictions have much better luck at winning death sentences and sending convicted murderers to death row than others do.  I suppose that goes with the job.

Then again, there are some jurisdictions that are more interested in winning a conviction.  Some D.A.'s will willingly take the death penalty off the table in exchange for a guilty plea.  It is in those cases which I'm afraid having the death penalty on the books has more or less become a "feel good farce," for the lack of a better description.  As I will explain:

Will we ever get to the point in this country where the death penalty is applied equally and fairly?  Probably not.  Since most D.A.'s are elected officials who are accountable to the voters of their jurisdictions, oftentimes the decision on whether or not to seek the death penalty in a given case almost always comes down to either money or politics.  Accepting a guilty plea in exchange for a life sentence surely does save the taxpayers money. Making a case go away as quickly and quietly as possible, it has been said.  Then of course, there is the political end of things.  The D.A. goes all out on a big case, just to win favor with the voters come re-election time, or for some other politically-motivated consideration.

AS MY MOTHER TOLD ME
If you are found guilty of and with your hand in the cookie jar your hand gets spanked! If you are guilty of stealing one should pay for the theft! If one takes a LIFE out of self defence that is self defence. In committing a crime one SHOULD PAY which causes personal injury or death that one should pay WITH ONES LIFE!

on: July 26, 2011, 04:21:55 PM 15 General Death Penalty / U.S. Death Penalty Discussion / My Thoughts...

I'm trying to come back to the site on a regular basis. However, you might notice a difference in my postings, no worries, my stand is still SOLID on the Pro side!

I slipped away from here for the months preceding the Stroman execution, not because I disagreed with it, I supported his punishment completely, however for those who don't know me, I once knew him and even though I support the punishment he received it was a hard reality to know he was really going to die. It's hard for me to explain (I cant even explain it to myself), especially since I had not exchanged communication with him since 2006 my feelings were confusing to me. So I removed myself from the site until it was over.

I've decided that when I am back on here on a regular basis I will not celebrate the death of any one, not even the most vile of criminals. Sometimes our words here do appear as we are celebrating and honestly I don't want any part of that, I would just like to exchange news, opinions and ideas in a respectful manner. I have to remind myself that some of these criminals do have family members and young children or grandchildren and I don't want to lower myself to post things like "rot in hell" and the like for them to possibly see, it is in bad taste and just wrong in my opinion. The punishment they received is death and when executions are carried out their debt to society is paid.  I'm going to do my very best to take the high road from now on and if I fall short at times I hope someone here will give me a good kick in the ass to get me back on track.

As for the anti's and the pen pal anti's. There is a difference between the two, a true anti will still view the criminal as a vile human being yet not approve of executing him. A pen pal cuddles up with the vile criminal and blabs to the world what a wonderful human being their thug is. I'm sorry but wonderful human beings do not murder others! To the real anti's here, you have my respect. To the pen pals who might happen upon this site - it's best you leave now because you're not welcome here, my advice to you is seek therapy for whatever is missing in your life that has led you to turn to murdering thugs on death row for friendship.

I hope everyone here can remember why we are here, to post facts, to counter the lies the thughuggers put out there and to remember and support the victims and their families. Most of us are on the same side of the fence and there is no reason we should be fighting with each other - that has to stop and it will stop.

I'm looking forward to meeting all the new members who have joined since I've been gone and I would like to thank the staff here for all of their hard work, you guys truly are the very best!!
