My name is Catherine Burke. I am a Victim Of Violent Crime. I am also the mother of a Murdered Child. My 18-year-old daughter, Saskia Savana Burke, was brutally stabbed to death here in our home December 20, 2011... Our murderer has been arrested, and as of today we are still awaiting the prelim... Charged with murder, 2 counts attempted murder, two counts of special circumstances, he is eligible for the death penalty.
I would have never thought, I would find myself to be the mother of a murdered child, the victim of a heinous, violent crime. We were good, moral parents, who raised our children in a very loving home. Our murderer, William Gary Simpson, was a friend of our son's - a friend to our family, for over 10 years... Ten years of birthday parties, Christmas vacations, summer sleepovers and pool parties. Ten years of classes with our son, fieldtrips, lunches and recess... Ten years, of paintball games and 4th of July fireworks, of hanging out and playing Rock Band in our living room... Our murderer was raised in a privileged home, attended the same good schools as our children, and he received good grades. I could have never thought he would plan for almost 1 year, to come into our home 4 days before Christmas, to murder us all!
I was an overly artistic woman, with the rare gift to not only "see" the colors, but to "hear" the music of the colors... I saw LIFE as something you create, and mold, and shape… I knew one thing, with absolute certainty. I wanted to be a mother! I wanted to be surrounded with children… They are incredible creatures, little children. So filled with purity and passion, and awed by everything! Untouched by the prejudices and influences of the adult world, they truly live in the realm of imagination… And in having my own children, working with so many children – I was afforded to live with them in this realm for a very long time…
We raised our children in a warm, loving, family oriented home. I stayed home to raise my children. I spent every day of Saskia's entire life with her! We have always had many children choose to spend time at our house, with our family. They liked to enjoy the structure of a family unit, a place where “mom” was always present, always involved. A home where homework was finished after school each day. A home where dinner was cooked, and the family ate together, EVERY SINGLE NIGHT! These children thrived on being listened to and included in an unbiased and unprejudiced environment. And they have always felt loved and accepted, here in our home. In a world where it is hard to find all of these things, our home was ‘sanctuary’ for children. My strong belief that it takes a community to raise the kids, held each child to my own high moral standards. This too, helped each child to become a better person, which in turn made the environment for my children better too! Because you see – I once believed it was possible, to make the world a better place, one child at a time. And when I look back, at all the children I’ve made a difference to? I can think of nothing better a person could ever hope to do with her life! I have succeeded in making a positive difference in this world! And the personal reward I receive – is the overwhelming love and respect from everyone in my life!
December 20, 2011
William Gary Simpson came into our home that morning, with the intention of killing my husband and three children, myself, and the 7 other children staying with us over Christmas break. Why? Because - he could not stand for us to have so much love in our home! He could not tolerate my children, and all the other children, being loved so unconditionally, the way he wanted his parents to love him. HE COVETED WHAT WE HAD…
When the DA asked me “why” he did not kill his own family, but targeted ours – I answered with my insightful truth. In the heart of every child, they have ‘hope’ that one day their parents ‘will’ love them unconditionally. Their parents will finally ‘see’ and ‘hear’ them. If Simpson had killed his own parents, he would never get those things that he wants so much! So he chose, instead, to take it from all of us…
And so, he planned for almost one year... He 'practiced', not only by taking self-defense, sword fighting and martial arts classes at college - but by killing! And then he came with an entire duffle bag filled with knives, watching our home for over 2 weeks while hiding out in a nearby foreclosed home, waiting for the optimum moment - to annihilate us all!
That Monday, December 19, was my son Ian's last day at college until after Christmas break. All the children had been playing rock band in the living room that day. Ian called at 6pm, to let us know he missed the bus home from college. His girlfriend had taken him down and bought him a new cell phone for Christmas, and the activation had taken longer than they thought. His girlfriends’ mother said it was ok for him to stay the night, and he was checking with us that it was ok too.
When Mr. Simpson entered our home (we are not sure if it was the afternoon of Dec. 19, or the early hours of Dec. 20), he went into Ian's room first - the only bedroom downstairs. He thought, from the rumpled covers, Ian was in bed sleeping. He stabbed into them, only to discover Ian was not there. So, he placed a knife on the bed, and threw the covers back over it. My daughter Saskia went downstairs at 4am for a bottle of water. Simpson attacked her with a 15 inch knife, slashing and stabbing into her 9 times before inflicting the fatal wound (stabbing the knife down through her neck to the hilt, sending all 15 inches of blade down through her chest ripping through her heart). "AAHHHH!" "AAAAHHHHH!” Our entire house awoke to the sound of her screams! As I ran from my bedroom and encountered my 13-year-old daughter on the upstairs landing, I ordered her to stay there – ‘DON’T GO DOWNSTAIRS!’ "AAAAAHHHHHH!!!" We ran downstairs, as Saskia continued to scream in pain and terror, "Daddyeeeeee!" "AAAAAAHHHHHHHHhhhh!", to discover Saskia already dead on the floor. And Simpson, standing over her with that knife, dripping with her blood. My husband and another child tackled Simpson. I took away the murder weapon. I was going to grab the phone, and call for help, but the phone was missing. I ran out front, and screamed for help! All I could think of was getting help for my daughter! I threw down the murder weapon, and saw a man across the street getting into his truck. I screamed for him to call the police, we need an ambulance, MY DAUGHTER MAY BE DEAD - I NEED HELP! And I ran back inside -
I did not know, Simpson had brought more weapons. I came back in to discover he had stabbed my husband (3 times in the back, puncturing his lung), and to my horror, was standing over this child who was begging for his life, and brought the knife down, severing the artery in his neck! I ran to stop him, but could not reach him in time... As he brought the blade down again severing the artery, and the blood shot out of his boy’s neck, and covered everything! I grabbed the blade as he brought it up the third time, and my husband tackled Simpson. I realized too much in that moment... I realized my Saskia was dead! I realized this boy and my husband were both going to die, as both were bleeding out... I realized, I was going to die. I also realized my 13 year old daughter was standing on the steps, and I HAD TO GET HER OUT OF THE HOUSE! So I turned, and yelled at her to run - and at the same moment, the woman from next door showed up in my doorway. I screamed for her to take my child to her house, lock the doors, and call for help! I threw the knife out front behind them as they ran!
I ran back to the boy, who could no longer sit up from loss of blood. I gently laid him down, grabbed the curtain that was lying on the floor, and pushed it under his skin, to stop the spurting blood. I waded the material up and placed his hand on it, I told him to hold it as tightly as he could. As I did this, I could see beyond him sitting in the hallway - an entire duffle bag filled with knives! But beside me, my husband was losing his strength, as his lung had been punctured, and I didn't have the precious seconds needed to reach the bag and return. So I grabbed the only thing within my reach, I believe it to be the curtain rod, and began beating Simpson with it. As I raised that rod over my head and brought it down into his smiling face, I thought of knocking him out! That image of Simpson’s murderous smiling face is burned into my mind! But as I raised it the second time, I looked into his smiling face and I WANTED TO KILL WILLIAM GARY SIMPSON RIGHT THERE IN MY LIVINGROOM FOR WHAT HE HAD DONE TO SASKIA! And if my husband had not lost his grip on Simpson, because he was bleeding so profusely, I WOULD HAVE! But my husband collapsed, and Simpson jumped up. Three neighbors came through my front door in that same instant! Simpson leaped past me, grabbed the duffle bag and ran out the back door. The neighbors ran in, and followed. Two stopped in their tracks at the site all the blood! One ran through it, but Simpson had already jumped the fence. So he turned, and they all ran back out the front door in pursuit.
Simpson was caught after a 4-day manhunt. When he escaped our house, he went directly to a mental institution, and checked himself in. NOT because he was crazy, but because this too, had been part of his PLAN! He never really thought he would ever need to implement this part of the plan, because he truly thought he would succeed in killing us all! With no witnesses left alive, no one would ever figure out who did it! Simpson's mother picked him up from the institution after two days, and hid him in her home for two more, until her son-in-law called the police to turn him in.
I share this with you here, in this personal place to speak out loud, and tell you the things of such horror and terror!
Please let me introduce you to Saskia Savana Burke!
11-6-93 to 12-20-11 Saskia was academically brilliant, scoring the perfect 600 on the state testing twice, yet humbled by how easy this was for her, and how difficult school was for others! Saskia went out into the world, with love and a special insight for all things, and continued her mothers work to change the world in positive ways! Saskia added her own special touch to the details of everyone’s life, every person she ever encountered. She was open and caring and giving to everyone, always! She was truly the most angelic creature any of us will ever encounter here in this life. How many people can you say are truly genuine? Saskia was. And she infected each one of us with her passion for life, her kind and loving nature, her ‘real’ and ‘true’ happiness, the simple sound of her oh-so-contagious laughter!
Saskia was only 18 years-1 month-14 days-28 minutes old, in the middle of her Senior Year of High School!

I will spend every moment I continue to live hearing Saskia’s screams! And feeling guilty, for not taking my leave of this life to be with her. I am forever torn between two plains of reality – life, and death! Because I KNOW THE ANSWER, to the question everyone asks… “What would Saskia want me to do now?” I had this conversation with her once. She said to me “momma, if I were to die, I would want you there with me! Don’t wait a single second! Hurry, because I would need you to be there with me! I couldn’t stand to be alone!” Every second spent living, is spent forsaking my Saskia! I do not simply wish for death, I physically ache for it with every breath!
Let Saskia’s words speak loudly for us all! Because this, the most precious gift in life, is what William Gary Simpson has taken, and can never be returned to us:
" I value my happiness. I value how happy and content I am with my life. I value the memories that have made my life as happy as it is. I value my friends and family who make me happy and share my happiness with me. I value all the things that make me happy, like fun and relationships, but what I value most is the fact that I am happy because there are so many people who are not that lucky. I value my happiness the most because the friends and items that you have may change, and circumstances may change, but the fact that
I AM HAPPY WITH WHAT I HAVE
AND WHO I AM -
IS THE MOST PRECIOUS GIFT
THAT I COULD EVER BE GIVEN!”
Having Saskia in our lives, and being a "complete" family was OUR MOST PRECIOUS GIFT, and truly made us happy! And inside this box Simpson has placed us in – of horror and terror, misery and pain, hopelessness and injustice, there simply "is" no happiness!
SASKIA’S PASSION – for her life, and her family and her friends! How Saskia has been so wronged! And knowing, her expectations of me, to never let her death be in vain! Knowing, that when I am finally free of this mess to go to her, she will know I did everything I could to take a stand, on all of the issues surrounding her murder, and to affect change - to make a difference FOR HER in this world! She would expect nothing less from me than to fight to protect everyone she has ever loved. She would accept no other excuse from me for staying here, for forsaking her wishes for me to join her NOW! I have a different perspective, from within this inadequate justice system we currently bear… For there is truly no Revenge great enough, no Justice powerful enough to make ANY DIFFERNCE AT ALL… None of it will bring Saskia back! I raised Saskia to believe – ONE PERSON CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Let that person now be Saskia!
Let her voice now scream loudly for -
PROTECTION !!!
William Gary Simpson took our CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness when he Murdered Saskia! He has destroyed our lives, in too many ways for anyone who isn’t standing in our shoes to imagine! The powerlessness of such complete VICTIMIZATION! Relying now on a dysfunctional Justice system, forcibly held by it with NO RIGHTS! With limited options, which are beyond our control. And yet the FINAL decision? WILL DETERMINE THE FUTURE OF EVERYONE I LOVE! Simpson was caught, and faces the death penalty. A sentence he will never really receive, when it is given to him... Each moment he exists, he is a continued threat to our family. Even from behind bars, he still communicates with the “outside”. He called our house, from jail! I have only my unique perspective as a MOTHER. I look down the road, at the possible future all my children may one day have… To a day when they have families, and children of their own… Knowing they will live EVERY MOMENT, WAITING FOR THE NEXT ATTACK IF HE LIVES! Knowing the lives of my children and my grandchildren, are at stake! Please, do not take this last vestige of safety from my CHILDRENS LIVES! WE, THE VICTIMS, DESERVE A SWIFT AND AFFECTIVE DEATH PENALTY!
And so, I now take a firm stance in this matter, FOR THE DEATH PENALTY! In this election year, the DEATH PENALTY will be on the ballot. Our CA Governor, Jerry Brown, opposes the Death Penalty. I need your help to make Saskia the face for all victims, and give Saskia’s story, to the people of California – AND THIS NATION, as to why the Death Penalty is so important to the Victims of Violent Crime like us. Join me in putting political views, religious beliefs, and personal feelings aside – to finally change our laws! Throughout the history of our country, change only came after someone had reason enough to stand before us and lead the way! I stand before you now – and Saskia is my reason! Let Saskia's words ring loud and true, throughout this country of ours, for the PROTECTION OF ALL SHE LOVED IN THIS LIFE!
Let the sweet voice of my Saskia, that only I can hear now, speak her words, of how SHE feels:
“ I could never forgive someone for taking away my rights, my home, my friends and my life! If things like this happened to me I would be resentful, rather than forgiving. I just couldn’t forgive the people who were so prejudiced that they made me lose my best friends, and school. Just the thought of losing them brings tears to my eyes. I couldn’t forgive the people who took away my parents rights as citizens. I couldn’t forgive the people who restricted my loved ones from doing the things they love. I couldn’t forgive those who made me leave my home. I wouldn’t be able to forgive them for MAKING ME SO SCARED OF THEM, I FROZE WITH FEAR EVERY TIME I HEARD A SOUND!”
Saskia’s thoughts, written just weeks before her murder, for an essay on Anne Frank. “Thinking that Anne forgave the Nazi's for all that, is unbelievably saintly. Even though Anne was just a regular girl like me, she was more remarkable than anyone I have ever heard of! I wouldn’t be as forgiving and naïve. I would be resentful, for being so wronged!” I ran across this open page, sitting in her room amongst her unfinished homework. SASKIA'S THOUGHTS, about an unspeakable horror and injustice that came true for her. HER WORDS, that speak directly to William Gary Simpson, Saskia’s “NAZI”!
She cannot stand before anyone, ever again. She cannot protect the people who she loved, who made her happy every day of her life! But I can stand before this Nation, and speak Saskia's words out loud for her! I can fight, to change the laws we currently have, for the protection of everyone she loved!
This fight includes changing the laws that govern our Police Department. It also includes the Press - to be held to laws which hold them to the truth, and hold them accountable for the outright "LIES" they made up after her murder, to sensationalize her death!
THE REST OF OUR STORY...
2010
Upon HS graduation, Simpson and Richard Frasier asked if they could live with us, so they could attend Riverside Community College with our son Ian. We agreed to rent them room and board, and allowed them to stay with us. The agreement included each boy must find a job, to pay rent.
Both boys moved in with us in June, 2010. They spent the summer looking for work, but due to the economy, could not get jobs. November, 2010, Simpson was finally offered a job. My son Ian brought this to my attention, when, Simpson turned down the job offered at a local video game store. Upon learning Simpson had turned it down, Ian went to the manager and asked if he could have this job, but someone else had been hired.
That evening, I asked Simpson "why" he had turned down the job. After all, it was our agreement. He owed us 6 months rent, for which he had never paid not a penny. Simpson stood there, looking confused, and said "well, I'm in school now. I need to focus on school. I'm not going to be the only one working." I explained to him that each boy, was responsible for himself. Each boy, HAD to get a job. Still looking confused at this thought, he rolled his eyes at me, and walked away.
Later that evening, Simpson took his guitar and a set of strings to Ian, and asked him to restring it. Ian did. The next morning, Ian and Simpson got up and caught the bus for college. After dropping my two daughters at school, I went to the grocery store. Upon checking out, I discovered my entire months grocery money was missing from my purse... That evening, Ian returned alone from college. Simpson had not been on the bus. Ian had not seen him at school. After dinner, Ian discovered his guitar case to be open, under his bed. Upon sliding it out, he could see the empty package his new expensive guitar strings had been in, a present from mom and dad for his birthday... The strings, Simpson had asked Ian to put on his guitar - had been Ian's strings!
By 10pm, we were frantic with worry... We had repeatedly called Simpson's cell phone, but it went straight to voicemail. At 11pm, I called the police to report him missing... He had left that morning with his backpack and guitar, as usual, but not returned home. He had said nothing to us. I knew it was too early for the police to do anything, but I could not reach Simpson's mother, and had no phone number for his father. We knew he had stolen from Ian. We knew he had taken the money from my purse. And yet, we were concerned for his safety.
The next morning, I called a friend who lived by Simpson's mother. I asked if she would stop by the house, to let his mother know her son was missing. A few hours later, she called to say Simpson's mother knew where he was. Simpson had decided to go visit his father, as it was the week of Thanksgiving.
My son Ian, was angered by ALL of this. Not only had his friend taken advantage of his family by living off us and not paying rent, but also he had stolen his guitar strings, and stolen our entire months grocery money! We were now forced to drag our possessions out front and have a garage sale, so we could get enough money to supply groceries for our household of 6 to eat... Ian and Richard went through the house that day, putting all of Simpson's possessions in bags, and setting them out front... Upon opening the bottom drawer, that Simpson was using, we discovered quite the knife collection. I chose to throw them in the trash, and not return them. After all, Simpson was staying with his father, whom he did not have the best relationship with. His father had remarried, and he now had two small children in his house. I did not think it safe, to return these knives to Simpson...
When everything was packed up outside, Ian called Simpson's cell phone and left the message for him that their friendship was over, and he could come to get his things from out front at any time. When Simpson's father, who is a police officer, brought him to get his things, I confronted him about his son's behavior. Not paying the debts, he was responsible for. Lying to us, stealing from us... His father LAUGHED, and said it was not his problem - I should take it up with his mother!
November 30, 2010
A note was left on our front door, by Simpson. A note to Ian, telling him Happy Birthday.
Many children came to our home during Thanksgiving break. This particular afternoon of the 30th, the children were sitting in the living room, discussing Simpson's behavior after reading this bizarre note. Simpson was egotistical, and arrogant. The type of child who thought he knew everything, and often made up lies about things which he knew nothing of to sound self-important. He was entirely selfish, and had a strong sense of superiority over others. During this discussion, I overheard Richard talking about an incident where they had been playing a video game. As there are only two controllers, and there were 4 people playing, they all took turns. Except Simpson did not want to share, nor give up his turn. When Simpson finally took a bathroom break, Richard began playing - taking his long awaited turn. Simpson returned and became enraged, pulled out his pocketknife and held it to Richard's throat!
None of the children had taken this threat seriously at the time. Not serious enough, to even mention it to Mom and Dad at the time. For they all saw Simpson as "wimpy", with his rather "effeminate nature"... None of the children saw him as the least bit threatening or dangerous. But upon hearing this statement, I became alarmed. So much so, I called the police, to report it.
"A MINOR CHILD HELD A KNIFE, TO THE THROAT OF ANOTHER MINOR CHILD IN MY HOME"!
The officer came, and I gave him all the details. After all, both children were minors. And while I could not do anything further for this boy, I now felt the police SHOULD. I could see a child who was morally going down a misguided path. And his parents were doing nothing about his behavior. And the two things that bothered me the most - Holding a knife, to another child’s throat - and stealing from his best friend of over 10 years, spoke volumes to me that something was wrong with Simpson. The officer, however, took my report and decided to do nothing. He saw no immediate threat, as Simpson was not presently at our home. I argued, for 15 minutes, the morality of this issue. After all, HE HAD BEEN AT OUR HOME ONLY THIS MORNING! How it was the responsibility, when his parents refused to do their job, of society itself to set this young man straight on his moral path. How he was headed down such a morally wrong path, and he needed intervention... But my words fell on the deaf ears of this officer. He still chose to do nothing. And offered to me "if Simpson returns, give us a call..."!
When we called over 1 year later, in December 2011, it was to inform the police Simpson had returned - to murder us all, and had slaughtered our daughter!
THE PRESS
That morning, the press arrived as quickly as the police. I was being held captive, in the garage of the house next door - having been told by the police officer keeping me captive that Saskia was in fact alive, and the paramedics were working on her - only to be told the truth hours later, that she had in fact died immediately, and they only lied to keep me there... All that time, asking the police to walk 6 houses down my street, and inquire from the neighbor boy who had been at my house last night - to call my son! When Ian's new cell phone was activated the night before, he had called this boy - and he would have this new number on the call log. All that time, I did not know if my son was alive, or if Simpson had started his murderous rampage in Riverside! I did not know if my son, his girlfriend and her mother may be stabbed to death too, or worse, dying because no one was getting to them in time! And for two hours, the police did nothing. When they finally admitted Saskia was dead, I could take it not longer! I ran from that house, and as an officer tried to grab me I screamed, capturing the attention of the media parked in the street! I challenged this officer to stop me, and he realized the media was watching, and had no choice but to let me go! I walked down the street, the police hurrying to get in front of me, to get the neighbors house before I did... This neighbor boy had Ian's girlfriend’s number, and we dialed her instead. I took the phone when she answered, and asked it they were ok. When she said yes, I asked her to go somewhere, where Ian could not hear our conversation. I had to tell her what had happened, explain to her not to let Ian or her mother leave, but to lock the doors and windows and wait for the police to arrive, because Simpson had escaped, and may be on his way there! This neighbor boy said he would drive there with the police, to tell Ian himself what had happened to his beloved sister, to his family! We were all afraid, of how Ian would react, and what he might do! I asked this girlfriend not to say anything to Ian, until the boy and the police arrived...
Meanwhile, as I was held hostage next door... My husband was put into the back of an ambulance, where paramedics were working to stabilize him for transport to the hospital. An officer was questioning my husband, about what happened. With one collapsed lung, my husband barely had the ability to utter Simpson’s name. This officer, kept asking my husband 'why our daughters boyfriend had returned to the house to kill her - had they argued? Was he jealous of her new boyfriend?' My husband could not find the breath to explain the situation, and kept shaking his head 'NO'! The media, standing behind this officer and listening to his line of questioning, then wrote the following article:
MURRIETA: Triple stabbing leaves 1 dead, 2 wounded
http://www.pe.com/local-news/riverside-county/murrieta/murrieta-headlines-index/20111220-murrieta-triple-stabbing-leaves-1-dead-2-wounded.ece
In this article, it is claimed they spoke with my mother in law about Simpson, and she told them Simpson was 'kicked out after Paul (my husband) thought Simpson was "googley eyed and gaga" over Saskia'. The TRUTH? Gary is gay, and never, ever, had any interest in Ian's little sister, what so ever. The truth - THAT SIMPSON CAME TO KILL US ALL was never mentioned! The press simply ran with this twist that was implied by the questioning officer, and OUTRIGHT LIED, to the world!
And this lie, that this black child had been kicked out of our home by the white parents after his interest in our white daughter, got the attention of both the WHITE RACIST GROUPS, AND - THE BLACK HATRED GROUPS. Both groups grabbed this story because of this twist, and to our horror, this is what has happened:

WHITE FAMILY TAKES BLACK YOUTH INTO THEIR HOME, ENDS UP WITH MURDERED DAUGHTER AND SEVERELY INJURED FATHER
Robert B. writes:
The fruits of liberalism—
The family “houses people in need”—who are total strangers, including a “troubled youth” who is also a total stranger and who just happens to be the same age as their beautiful daughter. The “troubled youth” gets into the house at 4 a.m. without having to break in. Did he have a key? My guess is that people came and went at their leisure. After all, the homicide victim’s seventeen year old boyfriend is also in the home at 4 a.m.—which is apparently “normal.”
So, allow me, please, to draw some conclusions. These people most likely belong to a non-traditional church that may be (likely) Catholic. By non-traditional I mean the kind that uses guitars for musical accompaniment instead of an organ. Part of the church’s program is to “house the poor.” When they run out of space in the church basement, they push these people out into congregant’s homes. This man obviously didn’t care if his daughter was having sex under his very nose as evidenced by the presence of his daughter’s boyfriend in his home at 4 a.m. Why else would the young man be there at that time of the night? He probably had apprehensions about the black youth’s behavior but decided it was his “inner racist” and fought it hard. Eventually, his “inner racist” got the better of him and he asked the “troubled youth” to leave. The “troubled youth” probably dwelt on the father’s racism as the father allowed another, most likely white, boy to stay in the home and have sex with his daughter. The “troubled youth” fulminated on this and decided to take revenge for being denied sex with the man’s daughter. The second photo of the murdered girl speaks directly to the father’s intelligence. The father was stupid to allow a young black kid from a “troubled home” under the same roof with his hot-little-number daughter. However, what I just said was from the perspective of not having read the additional information about the family’s rather liberal rules regarding visitors in the wee hours and its implications regarding morality.
I believe Robert B. may be on to something. If the daughter was promiscuous, the black kid may have made an approach, been turned down, possibly brusquely, assigned it to racism, and, being “troubled” (cf. nationalblackfootsoldiernetwork.blogspot.com), flew into a killing rage. But who knows, really.
My point is, the father’s an idiot. It’s all on his head, the way I see it. It happened under his brainless watch.
All of that aside and out of mind (what can one do!), I wish you a Merry
ALL OF THESE WORDS, FROM THE BLACK AND WHITE SIDE OF THINGS! EQUALLY REPUGNANT!!
In those first few days, while our child's body and our home were CRIME SCENE's... The media went to Saskia's facebook page, and stole her pictures and her favored quotes. And then quoted these quotes, as HER WORDS! And posted her picture, on these websites of HATRED! With our names and address...
As you can see, our lives have been destroyed. Every last vestige, is destroyed for us, to us! With all that has happened, I can only look at life this way-
Catherine Burke died too, the morning of December 20, 2011... I can point to the very spot, when her soul shattered, and left this physical embodiment. It was her destiny, to die that morning. But for all her life, Cat was good. And beyond her death, she was rewarded for that extreme goodness.
Many times that morning, her physical body was spared. Something outside of herself, protected that body. EVERYONE ELSE was injured in the ongoing battle with Simpson that morning! At one point, after Simpson had stabbed her husband and the other child, Simpson had the knife raised over Cat, and she grabbed the blade, and incredibly her husband (bleeding profusely, with 1 collapsed lung) gathered the strength to tackle Simpson away, leaving Cat holding that knife! Cat took two knives from Simpson in that battle, grabbing each one by the blade, and didn't get cut! Her body was spared, so it could finish what needed to be done!
To help all the children, in their time of mourning... To see the police officer fired, for choosing to do nothing with the initial police report, that could have saved Saskia - to ensure that officer is never again allowed to make such an unforgivable mistake to someone else... To hold the media accountable, for their lies - to show them that COMPASSION, at a time of great loss, is the only way humans should respond... To make absolutely certain, WILLIAM GARY SIMPSON IS GIVEN THE DEATH PENALTY, so that none of her children will ever again, be forced to see him or fight to keep him from being paroled!
I do not speak in terms of Heaven and Hell. But rather in terms of Good and Evil.
For all that these people were Good, Evil coveted and came.
These things are the last good, Cat can ever do.
And do them, she will!

Read this slow and outloud for then it will make sense
Before I start let me tell you about Grandma. She was born MARCH 25th 1914. Grandma walked to a one room schoolhouse in NEBRASKA. Uphill both ways (giggle giggle). She drove a city bus in San Diego California during world war II from 1942 until 1945. You do the math how old was she? She went from horse and buggy to darn we dont need a horse no more. People pooped outside and ate inside. Now we have barbeques and we poop inside and eat outside. Go figure! She saw a man go from a hay wagon onto a truck then he landed on the moon. She is an amazing LADY. She drove her car and truck until she was 96yrs old. Lived in her home until 2 months ago when she fell and broke her back. She passed away this morning and please dont say I am sorry Michael. For this is a celebration of the life she lived and the man she made me. An old George Harrison song But not for you. LOOK IT UP you might like it

Obama Trashed on NBC News

Morning Joe remains the home of the overwhelming ratio of liberal to conservative guests. Even so, in recent weeks a narrative unflattering to Barack Obama has emerged around the table: Obama doesn’t like his job. He doesn’t particularly like people and is in the wrong line of work.
An even more damning appraisal was offered today: Obama doesn’t think he has failed America. He thinks America has failed him. Or as Joe Scarborough encapsulated the concept, Obama believes our version of democracy is a “stumbling block to his greatness.”

I think and feel that all of us here have been victimized by someone somewhere. Its time for it to stop!
Give before you take! The world would be a much better place. Can one look at themselves in the mirror knowing that they took from someone something so precious and that is the only thing. That being the last breath that they had?
To those anti DP people I want you to know that those that took from those gave up their right for a last gasp of oxygen! DONT TAKE WHAT YOU CANT GIVE

Anyone caught the recent spate of documentaries on Channel Four featuring Death Row prisoners in the United States?
An interesting, and quite typical insight into how America puts out its garbage. But what about here, in Britain? Is it the British people that do not support capital punishment, or just the British Government that doesn't? Anyone who believes the two operate in harmony, by the way, are deluded! Immigration, and our EU membership are but a couple of the many issues demonstrating just how detached the British Government is from the people it purports to serve, regardless of who it is today that is prancing around Downing Street and who it has been over the past 30 odd years; about the time when it all started going Pete Tong. My own mind on capital punishment is mixed; I'm a confused bunny. Depends on what day of the week it is and whether the moon is full or quarter as to whether I'm in favour of it or not. What a juvenile mindset to have on an issue as serious as life or death of another human being. I recognise that, and I'd like to return to my juvenile mindset later on, if I may. Just as well I'm not the Governor of Texas, I suppose, those death row inmates wouldn't know if they were coming or, quite literally, going. Neither would the voters come to think of it, and that just wouldn't do.
The Channel Four documentaries... well, the two I watched focused on a couple of death row inmates: Hank Skinner and Linda Carty. They're both innocent victims facing execution at the hands of an unjust and fatally flawed US justice system, so say Skinner and Carty, naturally. More about them later. Thankfully, one of the programmes was made by the rather excellent German film maker Werner Herzog. The main reason I say thankfully isn't just because of his talent in documentary making (his progs have cropped up several times on British TV over the years) No, I say thankfully because Mr Herzog, unlike British documentary makers who dash across the pond every once in a while to film America's condemned, always remains pretty much neutral on the subject, agenda less, you might say, other than his desire to show us what his camera has managed to capture. It's true that his narrations are quite morose, but it adds something to his programmes, considering the subject matter. He's not making a documentary to judge, he's going to let us, the viewer, do that, he's filming something simply to show us something, and that's all. He's neither condemning the executioner (the United States Government) nor agreeing with it - neither believing or disbelieving the protests of innocence that pour out of the stars of his films (death row inmates). I like his style. I imagine him with his family on Christmas day passing around the turkey – that voice -“and here, we see, the green of, the mint sauce, with its earthly glow, glide along the, spoon's edge and onto a plate, this plate, my plate.” I'm certain he's a decent German.
When a British documentary is made about America's use of capital punishment it is presented with an agenda, not even sometimes, but always. Look at these crazy Americans and how they're stuck in the dark ages with their gassing and electrifying and lethal injecting of criminals. It's the same when the British media reports on the subject, and when UK politicians speak about it. Where outright condemnation is resisted (rarely) sarcasm takes its place, along with those other superstars of the British psyche... finger wagging, tut tutting, eyes rolling. Patronising the Americans regarding their justice system makes us Brits feel just great about ourselves, doesn't it? What is with America and its insistence on state sanctioned murder? Are they barbarians over there or what? A ghastly business in which we do not partake. Well not any more we don't. I don't think I have ever watched a British made programme or British news report to do with America's use of capital punishment that hasn't contained either unashamed condemnation or, at best, a condescending tone. An opportunity to finger wag at the Americans must always be seized. Another chance to feel superior over our cousins across the pond with the funny accents and big cars. The agenda. Personally, I despise it. Thank God for the German.
What's it say about us, all this finger wagging and tut tutting, that we're better? We know best? That the British justice system is superior to that of America's? Yeah, OK then. Anyone who believes that is also deluded, quite seriously so, if you ask me. Before going anywhere near the capital punishment issue we can find a whole lorry load of examples where the British justice system is quite inferior to that of America's. So let's have a quick look at two of them...British judges are not elected, American judges are. Why's that important? The elected judge must keep a keen eye on the decisions he or she makes in the courtroom, and an even keener eye on the mood of the community in which he or she serves, failure to do so will almost certainly lead to the judge not being a judge any more come election day. Elected judges have to earn their jobs. The community must have faith in them. There's a partnership at work - the judge and the community. The vast majority of American communities, and I'd like to believe British communities too but I'd never put money on it, are not made up of limp-wristed, tree hugging do-gooders that believes every criminal is either innocent, or shouldn’t be punished but instead given “support” and “understanding.” No, they want, demand, and elect judges that'll deliver the goods. American judges almost always do.
And now, in stark contrast, please, give it up, for the one, the only, the unelected...British judgeeeees... yah, woop woop. This lot can hardly care less about what the community wants if it so pleases them. They watch British Prime Ministers, entire Governments even, come and go. The business of election, re-election, all change at the top etc, effects them not. So the great unwashed can just go and bloody well bugger off with their incessant cries for justice and punishment to fit the crime nonesense. What do they think this is, a democracy?
It is no exaggeration to state that it's sadly an almost monthly occurrence in this country now where yet another serial criminal, even rapist or savage murderer is given, not the harshest, or even harsh in relation to the crime, but softest of sentences. Public outcry, when it happens, achieves nothing. There is an epidemic in Britain of vicious murderers who are freely walking the streets today that were released from prison early, really early. Interestingly, though, make any form of racist remark in Britain, whether light hearted or otherwise, and you will feel the full wrath of the UK justice system come down upon you like a ton of hot bricks, make no mistake. You should prepare for prison on trial day. But that's a whole Blog all by itself, another time, perhaps. Back to judges and our second quick example of why the British justice system is in no way superior to America's...
The American justice system fully understands the meaning of the word "life” when used in the context of handing out a prison sentence, the British justice system does not. In almost all cases when a judge in an American courtroom tells a criminal that he or she is going to prison for “life”, the criminal knows only too well, that barring new evidence or winning an appeal somewhere down the line, they are going to die in prison, there's no getting around it. Hasta la vista, homey.
So what happens when a British judge hands down a life sentence? They use the word "life" but completely ignore its definition. Over here, when a judge oh so regrettably and terribly reluctantly hands out a “life” sentence to a poor, unfortunate lost soul that has committed a violent act of murder, the judge invariably means 15 years, 20 to 25 years tops if national media are following the case for some reason. That's maybe 25 years, if we're lucky, if the family of the murder victim is lucky. It is true that there are a handful of people in British prisons that will die in them, but their sentences have little to do with a judge that was so overcome with a deep sense of justice that he put them away for life, real life, it's more to do with them being political prisoners, that is, to let them out would cause such a public outcry that any Government bold enough to sign their release papers would probably not be the Government any more come the next election. Child Killer Ian Brady, and Peter Sutcliffe, The Yorkshire Ripper are two such prisoners; Brady locked away in the early 1960's just a couple of years after capital punishment had been abolished, and Sutcliffe locked up in the early 80's. Myra Hindley, Brady's accomplice, was also kept in jail way past the 30 year mark, until she went and died on us. The British public, including myself, do not want to see these monsters released from their cages - feed 'em - water 'em - point 'em to a toilet every few hours and throw a blanket over 'em at winter time, the end. But they're an elite bunch. They truly are the megastars of the British criminal world. They have received so much press attention over the years that everybody in this country knows their names. Releasing them would be like digging up the bones of Elvis Presley - just never do it, ever. There are thousands of murderers in UK prisons that are not particularly famous as such, very few of them, if any, will serve anywhere near the amount of time like that of the megastars, despite the public calling for them to. Selective justice, or something like that. Question is, who voted for it? It wasn't me!
So why do UK judges even bother to use the word "life" when sentencing a murderer that everyone knows will be out bouncing up and down the High Street and grinning like a Cheshire cat in no time at all? Ah, the million pound question that I, for one, cannot answer. I look to the comments of others directly below this blog in the hope that one day, someone will; it hasn't happened yet! Where's a judge when you need one? Perhaps I'll gate-crash my local Freemasons' Club where I'll be sure to find a ton of judges enjoying drinky-poos and fine conversation; I can put the question to them directly. They say the judges at that club really know how to party, it sometimes gets down to just underwear and everything.
Yes, them British judges; you have to smile. The pomposity. The ceremony. The whole facade that justice is being served. "You have been found guilty of rape and murder, sadly therefore it is the regretable decision of this court, that you shall go to prison for erm, for um, well, you know, erm, li, errr, life. Mr Bailiff, I would be most grateful if you would kindly show the young man to the cells." "Certainly, your honour. And may I say that it has been, well, an honour to serve under you these past three and a half weeks, your honour." "Not at all, Mr Bailiff." "Your honour, may I ask, will my membership to the, you know, club, be approved soon do you think.?" "Not here, Bailiff, not here." "Of course not, your honour, forgive me. Righty oh, follow me young man, if you wouldn't mind, this way, please."
I'd like to know how they've been getting away with it all these years. And when did it start, or has it always been like this and we just didn't notice? We used to hang murderers in Britain so we haven't always been limp-wristed. What happened? When exactly did this "you will go to prison for life" as long as it does not exceed 25 years malarkey start? Life = 25 years? Since when? Alright, forget about locking them up and throwing away the key, what about not even uttering the word "life" when sentencing a murderer, just say 10, 15, 20, or 25 years? Just say what you mean and nothing else. Don't imply a life sentence. Don't build our hopes on this vicious killer going to prison for life when he's not. For me, about the only thing worse would be a beautiful woman who, while we're enjoying a late dinner at Ollies Oysters, promises me some passion back at her place later. When later finally rolls around there we are, outside her front door and embraced in a midnight kiss, the twinkling stars above us dancing with excitment and the giant moon beaming down an approving smile. I catch a glimpse of a shooting star as I dare to open my eyes for a second in case I'd been mistaken and she's not really as pretty as Charlize Theron; oh yes she is. Then her lips pull off mine, she unlocks her front door and steps inside. But wait, she's not going to invite me in? I ask her, puzzledly "and the passion you promised?" she replies, "was that not passionate?" I hate it when people do that.
If you're anything like me, you dread each time Ian Huntley is in the news. What now? Been attacked in prison again, has he? Confessed to killing more girls? Or - my second biggest dread behind confessing more murders - has a team of “highly trained” “specialist” “doctors” and “psychiatrists” deemed the child killer“rehabilitated” and long overdue for rejoining society? Has new evidence about his mental state at the time of his crimes come to light? Maybe as a child Huntley's teen-aged babysitter bounced him in his playpen a little too vigorously, all that bouncing causing one of her firm, teenage breasts to pop out of her bra and half buttoned blouse then poke baby Huntley in the eye. Such a traumatic experience must surely have effected the infant, causing reoccurring nightmares that have continued into his adult life. Conclusive evidence, therefore, that Huntley should be released with immediate effect; he killed Holly and Jessica purely because of the trauma he had suffered as a child. You see, he's not so bad after all! For the highly trained specialist team it's case closed.
Poor Sara Payne must think similarly whenever that other monster, Roy Whiting, who murdered her beautiful little girl, Sarah, is in the news. Are the specialists working hard behind the scenes to show us old Roy isn't so bad either? You never know in this country. You just never know! It wasn't until late 2011 that Sarah's Law finally got through the British Government's rigid concern for paedophiles human rights nonsense and came into being across England and Wales, almost 10 years after Sara begged the Government to implement the law and protect British children. Megan's Law has been in force in the US since 1994! Please, whatever your position on the death penalty, don't EVER think that the British justice system is, in any way, superior to that of the United States, and do not ever say it to me, down the pub or anywhere else, because I'm going to punch you in the eye if you do, hard!
Next time I hope to get around to talking about the two documentaries and their stars... Hank Skinner, Linda Carty, and that Prince of Goodness himself, Clive Stafford Smith. Yes, him. I'll share with you my confused mind on the death penalty, too, and maybe you can help me sort myself out, maybe you can.
Until next time, stay safe and thanks for reading.
ps - sorry for the edits. This is actually written for my blog, just thought it might be of interest here, that's all. Also apologies for my British English and some of the words that I have used, I understand they won't mean much to non Brits.

In hindsight, that subject title might cause alarm if people didn't know I was talking about a book! But I am talking about a book, and the publishing process went faster than I thought, so the book is available as of today! It's an ebook and you can find it at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Smashwords, with more sellers soon to come!

"Indeed, the decision that capital punishment may be the appropriate sanction in extreme cases is an expression of the community's belief that certain crimes are themselves so grievous an affront to humanity that the only adequate response may be the penalty of death." SCOTUS
I was reading through the" Intelligent Debate " thread and seen this signature in time2partee { Hope I got ur name right } post and it got me to thinking about a few things .
When I read this quote ,my first feeling was anger . I am of the belief that all murder is equally evil ,not just the murders that the communty deems " so grievous an affront to humanity that the only adequate response may be the penalty of death." I truly believe all murderers should be sentenced the same, and since I am against the DP , I feel it should be LWOP under Supermax conditions
. Its the inconsistancies in sentencing that upset me . This picking and choosing what case is more henious ,more deserving of the DP just seems wrong to me . It is almost like the courts are saying since certain murders wasnt "so grievous an affront to humanity " their killers shouldnt be sentenced to death . A victim is a victim regardless of who they are ,whether they are a child , a upstanding citizen , a hooker ,or a gay person . Its like saying one murder victim matters more than another .All murder victims should matter , not just the ones that evoke outrage from the community .
Off my soap box now ,although I might add more later . LOL

A 65-year-old man shot two teens, one fatally, as they tried to rob him Wednesday morning on a trail near the Schuylkill River, police said.
The Berks County coroner's office did not release the name of the boy who was killed, saying only that he was a 16-year-old from the city. Officials said his mother asked them to give her time to notify relatives before releasing his name.
He was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:17 p.m. by Deputy Coroner Jonn M. Hollenbach. An autopsy is scheduled this afternoon in Reading Hospital.
The other teen, who was shot once, was taken to Reading Hospital. Police did not release his name. Information on his condition could not be obtained.
A third teen, identified only as a 15-year-old boy, was stopped at the scene by police and taken in for questioning. He was later committed to the county youth center in Bern Township on unspecified charges.
Authorities also did not release the name of the man, who was not charged.
Police said the shooting occurred shortly before 11 on the Thun Trail near the Schuylkill River pedestrian bridge between Reading and West Reading.
According to investigators:
The man was riding his bicycle on the trail near the Bertolet Fishing Dock at South First Avenue and Chestnut Street in West Reading.
The teens knocked the man off his bicycle, and two of them assaulted him.
The man pulled out a handgun and shot them both.
Someone flagged down a passer-by in the 200 block of Riverfront Drive near Reading Area Community College.
Within minutes officers from the city, West Reading, Cumru Township, state police and the Berks County sheriff's office were at the scene. They found the dead boy on a sliver of land that is part of Cumru at the end of the pedestrian bridge.
District Attorney John T. Adams responded with detectives from the county's forensic services unit.
After consulting with Adams, police decided to release the man and charge the juvenile.
