CONWAY, S.C. (AP) A South Carolina prosecutor has been honored for his work on death penalty cases.

Fifteenth Circuit Solicitor Greg Hembree's office says the prosecutor recently received an award from the Association of Government Attorneys in Capital Litigation at the group's annual meeting in Miami.

Hembree has prosecuted several high-profile death penalty cases, including a man convicted of killing his live-in girlfriend and assaulting her teenage daughter.

Stephen Stanko eluded police for four days during a manhunt in April 2005 and was eventually apprehended outside a restaurant in Augusta, Ga. He is currently on South Carolina's death row awaiting execution.

Hembree's circuit covers Horry and Georgetown counties.

One of the good guys...  Go get`em Greg...   8)
