Syed M. Rabbani
Rabbani was convicted of the November 1987 shooting death of 28-year-old Mohammed Jakir Hasan during the robbery at a Quick & Easy convenience store. Hasan, a store clerk and Rabbani's former roommate, was shot twice in the head at close range and once in the chest. The position of the body indicated he was kneeling when shot.
Sentenced to Death 7/88.
Convicted and sentenced to death for the 10/15/92 slaying of Edna Franklin, who had allowed him to live in her north Houston home.

On August 24, 2005 in Jackson County, the subject and co-defendant went to the residence of an 18 year-old white female, a 24 year-old white male and a 38 year-old Hispanic male where they fatally shot each of the victims in the head with a .22 caliber handgun.
Victims - Samuel Roberts, 24, Tiffani Peacock, 18, and Celso Lopez, 38
Codefendant Lajames Norman also sentenced to death.

Sentenced to Death in 12/04 for his particiption of the so called "Edinburg Massacre" which left 6 rival gang members (The victims - Jimmy Edward Almendariz, 22; brothers Jerry Eugene Hidalgo, 24, and Ray Hidalgo, 30; half brothers Juan Delgado Jr., 32, and Juan Delgado III, 20; and Ruben Rolando Castillo, 32 - all died of multiple gunshot wounds) dead.
Robert M. Ramos
Convicted and sentenced to Death in the clubbing his wife and two children over the head with a hammer before burying them under the floor of their Progreso home.
Victims - Leticia Ramos - 42. Abigail Ramos - 7, Jonathan Ramos - 3
Sentenced to Death 5/93.
On 11/16/1999 in Dallas, Rayford murdered a 44 year old black female by strangulation, stabbing, and blunt force. Rayford took the victim's body and threw it into a nearby creek. The murder took place in the home of the victim and was witnessed by her 11 and 14 year old sons.

Jonathan B. Reed
Reed was convicted of the November 1978 rape-slaying of 26-year-old Wanda Wadle, a Braniff Interntational flight attendant. Wadle was raped in her Dallas apartment where she was found nude, bound and unconscious. She died a week later from injuries suffered when choked with a belt and telephone cord.
Sentenced to Death 9/79.

On April 23, 1996, during the nighttime, Reed strangled and killed a 20-year-old woman during an aggravated sexual assault. Reed was identified by DNA taken from the crime scene.
On November 18, 2001, in El Paso, Texas, Renteria abducted a five-year-old girl and fatally choked her and burned her body.
On March 2, 2003, in Harris County, Texas, Reynosa approached a couple, pointed a gun at them and demanded their money. The man complied, but the woman told him that she did not have any money. . Reynosa knocked down and shot in the head a homeless woman, Tonya Lynn Riedel, during a robbery behind a gas station. Reynosa requested the death penalty and the defense did not call any witnesses in the penalty phase. The prosecution said Reynosa was a suspect in eight other armed robberies.
Rick Allen Rhoades
On September 13, 1991, one day after being paroled, Rhodes entered the home of two brothers while they slept. He attacked them with a steel bar and a butcher knife, resulting in their deaths. Rhodes also took money from the billfold of one of the victims.
On December 11, 2003, in Tarrant County, Texas, Richardson and three codefendants fatally shot and stabbed a 46-year-old man and 46-year-old woman in their home.
Riles was convicted of the December 1974 attempted robbery and slaying of a Houston used car dealer John Thomas Henry. Henry, 31, was shot at the car lot following a dispute with Riles and codefendant Herbert Washington over the condition of a car recently purchased by Riles. Following the shooting, Riles reportedly stood over Henry and demanded his money.

On January 22, 1997, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the Ripkowski strangled a mother of a two-year-old girl. Ripkowski left the woman on the side of the road and then drove to Houston, Texas with her daughter. The child was smothered by Ripkowski on Christmas day. Ripkowski put her body in a suitcase and left it on the side of the road in Houston, Texas. The suitcase remained there for approximately one week, at which time, Ripkowski took the suitcase and buried it in a shallow grave.
While on escape from a Texas prison, Rivas and six codefendants robbed a sporting goods store at gunpoint. An Irving police officer was murdered outside the store as Rivas and codefendants left the scene.
Rivera was convicted of the October 1984 strangulation death of 62-year-old Iona Dikes of El Paso. Dikes and another woman, Julia Fleenor, were strangled to death inside their home which was set on fire. Two other women in the home survived the fire. Dikes and Fleenor reportedly had been sexually assaulted before being strangled.

Jose A. Rivera
Jose Rivera was convicted of the 7/9/93 sexual assault and strangulation of three-year-old Luis Daniel Blanco in Brownsville. The young victim was led to Lincoln Park by a neighbor, where he was sexually assaulted by Rivera and stangled with the elastic from his own underwear. His nude body was found floating in a park pond the next day.
Sentenced to Death 6/94.
Warren Rivers was convicted of the May 1987 sexual assault and stabbing death of 11-year-old Carl Nance, Jr. in Houston. Nance was lured to an abandoned house where he was sexually assaulted and then beaten and sexually mutilated with a broomstick. The boy was stabbed four times in the back and chest with a knife. Rivers was arrested after people told police they saw him with the boy before the killing. Rivers later confessed to the crime. Sentenced to Death 12/88.
Update: 5th Circuit tossed Death sentence on 8/5/10.
On January 31, 2002, in Palestine, Texas, Roberson took his two-year-old daughter to Palestine Regional Medical Center, claiming she had fallen out of bed. The child had suffered severe trauma to her head from being struck by Roberson.
She was life-flighted to Dallas Children's Hospital, where she died from her injuries the next day. Roberson was in the course of committing or attempting to commit aggravated sexual assault on the child.
On October 15, 2003, in Polk County, Texas, Roberts demanded money from his live-in girlfriend. She refused and Roberts shot her three times in the head, causing her death.
Mark Robertson was convicted in the August 1989 shooting deaths of Edna Brau, 81, and her grandson Sean Hill, 19, during the robbery of Brau's residence in Dallas. Both Brau and Hill were shot in the head. Brau's body was found inside the home, while Hill's body was found in a creek behind the house. Brau's car, along with her purse and watch were stolen from the home. Robertson was arrested in Las Vegas, Nevada while driving Brau's car.
Resentenced to Death 7/2/09.
On November 12, 2002, in Nueces County, Robles and a codefendant, entered a home and fatally shot a 20-year-old man and a 19-year-old man.
On November 26, 1994, Rocha and one codefendant murdered a security guard at an apartment complex in Houston. Rocha had been involved in a physical confrontation with the security guard a week before the murder.
On the night of the murder, Rocha and his codefendant approached the security guard and attempted to take his gun. The security guard was shot twice in the face, resulting in his death. The codefendant took the victim's gun and pager.
Sentenced to death for the murder of 29-year-old Summer Baldwin and her unborn child.
On January 31, 2001, in Lubbock, Ross shot and killed an 18-year-old woman and a 53-year-old man. The bodies of the victims were found in a car in a ravine.
Darlie Lynn Routier
Darlie Routier was convicted of the June 1996 murder of her five-year-old son Damon inside the family's suburban Dallas home. Damon and his six-year-old brother Devon were stabbed to death while they slept with their mother in the downstairs family room.
Routier's husband, Darin, and infant son, Drake, slept through the attack in upstairs bedrooms and were not harmed.
Routier, who also suffered stab wounds that police claimed were self-inflicted, testified that she too slept through the attack on herself and her children and awoke only to see that back of a man fleeing the home. Prosecutors argued Routier killed her children because they interfered with the lifestyle she wanted to live.
John Allen Rubio
On March 11, 2003, in Cameron County, Texas, Rubio and codefendant Maria Camacho fatally stabbed and beheaded Rubio's two-month-old daughter, his one-year-old son and Camacho's three-year-old daughter.
Victims: Julissa Quesada, 3, John E. Rubio, 14 months, and Mary Jane Rubio, 2 months
Resentenced to Death 7/29/10.
Roland Ruiz was convicted of being the triggerman in the murder-for-hire of 29-year-old Theresa Rodriguez. Rodriguez was shot once in the head in the garage of her home as she stepped from her car. The victim's husband, Michael Rodriguez and brother-in-law, Mark Rodriguez, paid Ruiz $2,000 to kill her, apparently so Michael Rodriguez could collect on life insurance policies totaling $250,000
Mr. Ruiz, 28, fatally shot Cpl. Nix after a high-speed chase in 2007. Mr. Ruiz testified during the guilt-innocence phase of the trial that he thought police were shooting at the car in which he was hiding. The jury did not believe his self-defense claim.
On January 29, 2003, in Potter County, while incarcerated in the TDCJ Clements Unit, Runnels fatally stabbed a 40-year-old man who was working as an Industrial Supervisor in the unit boot factory.
On May 30, 2001, in Tyler, Texas, Russeau struck a 75-year-old man numerous times in the head causing his death.
Pete Russell Jr.
On August 13, 2001, in Houston, Texas, Russell fatally stabbed a 40-year-old woman who he believed had set him up on a delivery of cocaine charge. Russell was sentenced to ten years on the cocaine charge and committed this offense while on bond from the court to get his personal affairs in order before serving his sentence.
